That being said here are hard questions for veterans to consider.
For as long as i remember Somar was the leader of Defiant.
1. For those who remember Somar, What would Somar do about the Resetting Wars?
Somar would have fanned the flames. There was absolutely no love loss with Somar and he would do what he needed to win. He was furious when he came back and Prime was formed without his knowledge or consent.
Back in those days Defiant and ChosenOnes were top and they hated eachother. Words cannot decribe the hate between them, it is like prime and unbreak times 129420.
2. So, the pieces that were formally at war, joined to create Prime? Who's Idea was this? As the group who suggested this should be preserved in the Historical context of Danu of Legends. Who suggested this early? During the phases in which he or she was laughed at?
The idea came from different guardians in the two clans talking a lot. The driving forces from the Defiant side were Guffy and Rem, Chosen side was Cheech and a few others. I'm not 100% about the Chosen side of the house, I just know the discussions some of us had with Rem and Guffy on Defiant side.
2.a. Was the transition smooth or rough? How do two clans who formally hated each other work together to dominate? How were the diehards loyal to their clan to a fault persuaded?
The transition was smooth enough. Like Smeagle said, there were still cliques in Prime and you would defintely see small groups forming. Cheech tried to mitigate this by promoting a mix of guards from both clans. Eventually the lines broke down and we started all working together. Some of the diehards joined just because their friends went to Prime, others quit playing.
Reaper was chief of Chosen and Somar was chief of Defiant
3. Based on what is known about these two, what would they do, if anything, about the Resetting Wars.
Nothing, resetting would happen all the same if they were still active.
It lasted a long while but eventually many Defiant members left to join ChosenOnes and Defient began its downfall.
At this time Somar was on a break or may have quit (to soon return for a short time) idk wat he was doin. Whilst Defient was sinking Clandeathtine was the chief and did all he could to keep the clan goining but unfortanately it was to late
So Defiant, weakened and members left to the Chosen Ones
4. Is this similar to the way Honour (Nitro) is becoming weakened as members are leaving for Prime? Or is the current situation not comparable and different from this.
As I said previously, Defiant never had any sort of exodus to ChosenOnes. Defiant kept it's core members until Prime was formed, as did Chosen. So this situation isn't comparable. It seems like Honour has some internal termoil that Defiant didn't have.
Very soon after Cheech created Prime!!!! All the rest of Defiant and all of ChosenOnes went to Prime to make it wat it is today
So, Cheech facilitated the birth of Prime through combining an already weakened Defiant with the Chosen Ones who previously were at war.
I find this interesting that two previously warring factions combined and ended up dominating the world.
The merge was in everyones interest. We didn't want to go into OW and have to fight over bosses. The clans were so evenly matched that it was always neck and neck at bosses.
cheech decided to merge clans to be able to handle the new bosses in v3
6. So the strategy was to combine forces in preparation of the new update which obviously was effective, but to say one person decided would maybe be far fetched. Was there anyone else who decided this with Cheech? And if so who is this person?.
Cheech, Rem, Guffy and I am sure a few other Chosen members made the decision. Rem and Guffy had a lot of conversations with Defiant members in preparation to discuss how to best make the transition, and even many Defiant members voted that Cheech would be the best fit for Chief as Rem didn't want to work as hard as he had in the game.
6a. That being said and drawing from my experiences of Danu, it appears that the new update looming, the old strategy of reaching out to a warring faction to combine forces has been replaced by Prime lower level requirements in order to gain more forces in preparation for the new update. I assume this because at the time of lower lvl requirements Prime was already in control of Danu. Is this true, or am I thinking too much.
I would say you put a little too much thought into this. The lower level req was used to bring new life into the clan. We figured people needed more than 1 option for a good hard working clan. The lower req was to provide options and help new players.
No one from Defiant joined Chosenones. We all kept our respective clans until the Defiant and Chosen guards made Prime. Then after much discussion, like 3am said, those of use who were considering staying in Defiant, left the clan and followed the other Defiant members over to Prime. Most of the leaving and joining was done at the North Penn leystone in lirs.
So there is disagreement in Defiant bleeding members to Chosen Ones beforehand. Putting this aside for a moment.
No one in either clan would disagree with my statement. Defiant was just as strong the day Prime was formed as it was in the months leading up to the merger.
7. Was Chosen Ones and Defiant at equal strength during the merger or was one stronger than the other? When I ask stronger I mean obviously stronger, if it was slightly…then consider it equal for this question pls.
The representation from both clans was pretty even. I would say that ChosenOnes may have had the stronger presence at first just due to the reluctance of some of the core Defiant members to join right away.
