Damage types useless?

#1
Being a rogue I assumed stacking pierce damage would be a huge factor in raising my total damage
However this is not the case. Total damage seems to be based on the numbers and numbers only, leaving damage types obsolete

Example 1:
My rogue is equiped with bloodlust helm, king dagger, golden bodkin. Total pierce damage is 896
Now when I equip a grand charm of talon (extra 5 pierce damage) this brings the total damage too 932

Example 2:
If i have the same Equiped as above- bloodlust helm, king dagger, golden bodkin. Total pierce damage is 896
Now I equip a grand charm of blade (extra 5 slash damage) this brings my total damage too 932 aswell.

This doesn't seem right!
Mixing damage types seems to have no affect What so ever towards your total damage.
Now the question is, is there a reason to stack pierce damage or should I favour a higher damage charm such as poison, slash or even fire damage?

Feel free to test this out with other charms and post back your results.

this seems to me as simple arithmatic really. i dont really think it matters what type of damage it is, how much really. so if you find an amulet that does a higher dmg/sec then go for it! so yes, maybe the damage types are a little useless, but i have a hunch that some mobs in update 3 will have weaknesses to certain types of damage.

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

I'm not too sure about that. Pierce and slash are probably both quite relevant for your weapon of choice (a blade, I assume), so both these types of damage bonus is affected and mutiplied according to your expertise with your weapon. If you put on a ring of cold damage for instance, I believe that your damage will only rise with the number on the ring, and not multiplied for expertise, as you have probably not specialised in cold/ice damage.

If you are unhappy with any of your blade (hint!) charms and live in Lugh, my warrior character Derken will be happy to buy it of you at a reasonable price;-)

Some mobs have huge resistance to some types of damage I won't list them but if you hit a firenight with a fireball you will do virtually no damage but if you hit it with ice you do loads the majority of things have medium ish resistance to all types of damage but some things r suseptable to some types of damage and very resistant to others

Each individual enemy has it's own resistances to various damage types.

So for example if you attack a fire enemy with a cold spell you will do more damage than attacking with a fire spell.

If you have various damage types then each one is applied separately, and then all the damage is added up and displayed as a total.

Thanks!
