not much dmg, but overall it'll add a lot
royal flame (+150 fire magic) added i think around 22 dmg to my firebolt, ofc not a lot but 1500 ability would make difference, + evasions ofc as we can see with furyion with like 3.5k ice magic :S

ability adds quite a bit of damage in addition to your spells chance to hit.

That has me quite confused. Previously I had seen that an ice mage would hit harder with shards and blast but that the longer cooldown meant that you should go with fire build to be more consistent with hits and shorter cooldown. I really am surprised if fire mage hits harder and has shorter cooldown. Happy to learn more.

Nope, that isnt true, the ice mage needs to be pretty weak/much lower lvl for that to happen, fire mage can hit very high, but its his DPS that makes the difference, high hits and short cooldown, ice mage got insanly high hits, but much longer cooldown ofc.

I remember Bobert saying he ran the numbers, using equal skill/ability builds. He put fire to a slight dps advantage in fights lasting over 3 or 4 min, but increasing there after. As a leveling build, ice is great if you have sigils. You spend less time casting, so you can stop for 1-2 ticks of regen between MOBs. If you have the points to put in fire bolt, that can make the DPS situation level out. Or if you can use extra points from gear to OP your ice skills, same effect, but retaining regen times. In the end, it is a question of how you get energy, sigils vs e-boost

Dont forget there are skulls for fire too, void firebolt also means firebolt machine gun.
