When i want to change my password, otm sends me a random password which is an animal followed by 3 numbers, but when my friend wants to change their password, they can pick whatever password they want.

Why is this?

Maybe you are clicking a randomize button?

If it really bothers you re-install the game

You have to log into the game and select a world where your character is on. Just click the little gear button on the top left and click change password. You should be able to type in your old password (the animal and 4 numbers) and then change it to an new one and then confirm the change.
