Well personally i think pummel deals better dmg than giant swing,i already test that when im solo lvling,sometimes pummel dmg does good sometimes bad,but if i was u i will not using giant swing cuz its slower cast than pummel and the other skills,i started hate giant swing becuz its always miss when im lvling its rly frustrated so id prefer pummel rathet than giant swing.

Pummel, without resists, can hit anywhere from 50% to max dmg, its a physical dmg type, and on mobs it can hit even less than 50% (thats why u got shatter, although i had a hit of 2.9k out shatter, and few 2k's +), with shatter i often hit 3k+, when i had giant swing, even at lvl 50, it barely hit close to max, shatter, out of 4k dmg, even hit 3.9k even on killain for example, and on snorri's adds less time i checked (since i became 180 i didnt lvl), 3.8k or so, on ppl at pvp, considering pummel sucks on pvp usually, ive hit many 1.5k's even without shatter, and some 1.7k-1.8k with shatter, even on bosses i noticed it became strong, it started to hit double of my melee, which helps a lot, but sometimes can hit a bit less.

My ancient wyrmbone handaxe was borrowed and i gave it back, so im using ymir axe for now, the speed sucks but i love chopping stuff, mostly ppl.
