Update: I split mage formulas into fire and ice sections for easier reading until I find a better way to display the formula list (color recommendations anyone?). Go check them out to compare fire vs ice damage at the end game.

I thought that this comparison was particularly interesting:

Level 50 Fire Attunement Damage Boost = 22.331*sqrt(Focus) + 10.044*sqrt(Fire Magic) + 307.16
Level 50 Ice Attunement Damage Boost = 33.548*sqrt(Focus) + 15.221*sqrt(Ice Magic) + 450.48

If you divide the ice attunement numbers by the corresponding fire attunement numbers…
33.548 / 22.331 = 1.502
15.221/10.044 = 1.515
450.48/307.16 = 1.467
…you find that the ice attunement numbers are about 1.5 times as large.

This leads to another important finding:
The ice attunement damage boost is 1.5X of the fire attunement damage boost (at equivalent focus and ability levels).

next project will be Energy shield. I would have to use an alt book and a few death cap mushrooms.

Something of interest:
Fire bolt can be casted 8 times per minute, 16 per 2 minutes.
Firestorm can be casted 3.5 times per minute, 7 per 2 minutes.
Incinerate can be casted 3 times per minute for 11 ticks, and 6 times per 2 minutes for 23 ticks.
Frostbite can be casted 2.5 times per minute for 3 main and 11 ticks or 5 times per 2 minutes with 23 ticks. I like to cast frostbite when there is exactly 5 seconds left as it the main damage will hit exactly after the 5th tick and start a new cycle.
Ice Shard can be casted 4 times per minute, 8 per 2 minutes
Ice Blast can be casted 2.5 times per minute, 5 times per 2 minutes.

for mages, we still have to figure out formula for Cloak of Fire, Incinerate, and Energy Shield.

Incinerate
1719 per tick, 2850 fire ability, 875 focus

Crush lure
946 lure, Ice magic 1688, 875 focus

Incinerate
1719 per tick, 2850 fire ability, 875 focus

I need varying focus/ability values to make a formula. See Bobert's numbers as an example.

Also, I just discovered that all lures follow the same formula. No need for more lure data.

Fire bolt can be casted 8 times per minute, 16 per 2 minutes.

Fire bolt cool down is exactly 5 seconds, cast time is 1 second. This means it can be casted a maximum of 10 times per minute (if you've got good reflexes).

I might include cast/cool down times with the skill formulas eventually.

I've tested the speed of firebolt several times. I kept getting It at 8 per minute. My speed on firebolt was 7 seconds. The recharge is 6 seconds and cast is 1 second

I will double check this as soon as possible.

there is also a 1 second delay after casting firebolt before you can cast firestorm due to the traveling of firebolt. I am not sure if it matters how close you stand to the target when casting, but there is a short delay after casting.

as far as fire vs ice dps. It really depends on your setup. An ice mage that uses a dl wand with a freezing axe can produce a lot of damage during cooldowns which can out dps a pure casting fire mage. I prefer the Snowbound candycane with an elder blade because that is 250 cold damage per swing and you're already using lure of ice. The cold snaps are frequent and hit up to 1k.
