What I did those years ago when gold was a problem was to simply level up unlixed. It actually give quite nice money and reasonable XP.

Where to level depends on class I due to different damage resistance of mobs.

If you want to try a more wicked way, host dice games.

The easiest place that you can farm money is in Dustwither Catacombs, if you kill mobs in death caress they can drop Tiger Eye's which most players will buy at 1k. You can also kill the High Priest/Priestess' of Donne and get some good gold and sellable items. There is also the big 3 as I call them which drop Gems and Soul items which sell anywhere from 500g-4k.

Killing low level bosses is actually a very good way of getting a steady stream of money. Nobody really kills these bosses anymore so you should have no trouble finding them. All of the bosses in stonevale, all of the meteoric bosses, and the gold bosses in fingals and carrowowmore (such as the pirate in the end room in fingals and the cheiftans in carrow) all drop over 1k gold. You also get expensive gems that you can sell to the vendor when you kill the meteoric PHs.
The stonevale bosses and meteoric bosses are quite easy to solo, except for maybe rockbelly and coppinger. If you need help with a boss you could always ask a friend - it doesnt really matter the group size, as the grouping bonus ensures you still get lots of gold. While you may have trouble selling the drops from these bosses, the gold bosses in fingals and carrow also drop valuable rings and manuals that shouldn't be hard to sell.

I find the pirates a very effective way to get gold, on the top side of fingals cave you have 3 rooms full of pirates running around there killing all the pirates you see, you can easy get 10-20k an hour without drops. They drop a couple skill books wich easy sell for 3k each, also the dubloons sell for a decent amount.

I also recommend to do the lower tiered bosses, like falgren or any of the meteoric bosses wich each drop around 2-4k and drops that vary between 1-20k depending on your world.

Hosting dice is a valid way but risky because you can loose as easy as you win. I dont recommend this unless you dont mind the risk of losing more gold then you make.

If you are around lvl 50-100 i suggest to train with or without lixs because you will make gold when getting exp and the higher you are the easier you can farm gold.

I would say the pirates and the hawkchest guys. Can't remember what lvl you are now but I made a lot on the hawkchests. You could sell them to shop or to players and wrack up.
