+1 Cecil
I appreciate the plus 1, but i think the controvercy was on a reroll not an initial roll. I have seen a number of sloppy rerolls following a tie.

I know there was a situation yesterday that I wont elaborate on but I figured I'd take the time to try and clarify DM role and possible variables that may arise.

Besides dicing items and declaring winner the DM needs to verify the rolls. I know most players keep track and help by saying the names. The DM needs to take a few seconds and verify this. Sometimes there are ties or early rolls.

I along with others I've spoken to, are under the impression that no rolls count until DM says Roll. It's to prevent any confusion or any debate because players in the past have tried to do it and get 2 rolls on items. If they rolled a 2 per se before DM says and then roll again after, they get 2 rolls. If they roll a 99 before DM they would want it counted.

Putting this is in stone would just flat out eliminate the controversy.

Lag: occasionally some people lag at dice when many many players are in one spot. First off, I would recommend getting a new device. Secondly, declare it before hand and have someone ready to roll for you. Once the DM declares a winner and trades I believe it is final. Once again this is just a standard rule to set in stone and prevent more controversy.

I know sometimes random people get to DM and its good experience for them but with bigger more Important bosses I think we should establish some regulars so it goes faster and smoother.

Opinions are welcomed.
Thats true, dicing after dm announces is what should stand.

Hi all,

no roll counts before the dm says to ROLL. very simple and straight-forward. if you accidentally, in your excitement, roll before he says to, then you simply ignore that roll and roll again. remember, it is not a race, just wait until DM says ROLL

At the end, the DM will announce the winner. If there is any controversy (a tie, two rolls, someone didnt roll or lagged) - that is the time to bring it up. Once the trade is made, the results are final. if you notice someone lagg, please mention it and someone can roll for them. if you lagged and no one noticed and you didnt get a chance to roll - well, it sucks, but there has to be a reasonable cutoff (i have personally lost stuff cause of lagging out).

Once the trade is made, the results are final.
The DM declared i won, and the trade was made. I left the scene thereafter thinking I had won and had the item in hand.

The DM was then peer pressured into forcing a re-roll by the mob because this rule was never enforced and people differed on which roll counted. Plenty of other similar situations had occurred in the past where people rolled before the DM said roll and won and got to keep the item. Also, being that there was no formal policy on this, some DMs view that on a tie reroll the first roll by the player is their roll. My first roll was a 73 and Daws was a 55.

I appreciate the fact that because of my loss, now it is decided to clarify these situations and put in a firm policy. It does not make me feel any better that I was forced to give back and item I feel I won.

I tried to look back for a reference and didnt see one. Thats why i decided to get this put in writing on the forums.

I dont know if there is anything to be done to correct your issue now. I'm not trying to change the past. I'm trying to make sure we don't repeat it.

Nothing can be done, and nothing will be done. I am entitled to feel the way I feel, but I will move on. I hope we can formalize the DM rolling process so that there is more consistency and these issues no longer happen.

One potential issue is 5* mobs who drop one item and typically the person who gets the drop DMs it. I am hopeful that each person contributing will know the rules if and when they are changed/amended.
