Re: How many chars cab u bring to a boss

Ahh, my favorite topics - 'greed' and 'best for lugh'

1. greed. stop using this as an argument, we have all chosen to play a game in which the object is to get drops and accumulate stuff. It is not greed, it is playing. Some players may be greedy vs. generous, but as long as they contribute and play by our established rules, who cares? as Reytch has stated, what they do with the drop is their business. The fact is, if someone plays nicely, dices when allowed and isnt saying rude things - that is fine.

and as for selling drops - that is fine too. and if you don't like their price cause they are 'greedy' -then don't buy.

It is not about what people want - it is how they play.

2. Best for Lugh. my favorite. when people say this, they invariably mean some type of optimal distribution of powerful drops so that we, as a server, are very potent. However, this is not what it has historically meant. What it has meant in the context of Lugh is that everyone is included and has a fair shot. We have dicing rules that are followed very nicely, and we include people regardless of clan or being our friend - they all get a shot (the exception being the very few scammers that we have agreed need to be banned). The fact that everyone has a voice (everyone can use the forums to discuss, though some dont - in game discussions are great, but are tough to do via chat in real time).

Now, if you want some type of optimal distribution of drops - well, i dont think you will like the results. since no one has annointed a King or Queen to distribute all drops - it will fall to the clans. which means you will end up with a dominant clan or clans. Personally, i would guess that a couple of the biggest clans would unite, split drops between them, distribute them for optimal power, and ignore everyone else. Then you would have, very quickly, a very powerful set of people. However, i do not think most people really want this system, including me (and i would guess most Ancients would feel this way too).

no one wants a dominant clan - but ancients and syndicate can easily (separate or together) take down pretty much everything.

3. regarding alts. We have hashed things out many times regarding this and we have found a balance. Alts can dice like players can - but each player can only get ONE drop max, regardless of alt numbers at a fight. This gives them some edge (reflecting the time, effort, and contribution of the alts) while not allowing them an excess of loot. The backlash of trying to restrict alts, who are quite needed often, may not be to your liking. my guess is that the 3-5 people who multi-box with high level alts could easily form a group to get lock on many bosses and just work on their own. again, no one wants to see that, but if you try making rules that exclude certain types of players, you run the risk of a nasty backlash. We should always be wary of the 'tyranny of the majority'.

As for alts not pulling their weight or going on auto? well, i see mains doing the same thing. what to do? call them on it at the time: 'hey, wake up and cast a firebolt!', 'where are the lures/heals?'. When a group sees a pattern, they will take action. We put a player on 'probation' at mordy for afking too much. Not permanent, but he got the point. But also remember, some people are optimized for auto. My main, for example is pretty much all buffs/debuffs - i rarely use a skill shot - i leveled that way, i boss that way. so dont dis the auto attack

thanks
