Very nice post Swan, i totally agree 100 %
You forgot to mention that its also a chance for non-plat buyers to actually get Plat with gold, i know many friends who bought chests from me because they wanted to get plat from these chests, whether its 100-1k plat if they're lucky just by buying a few sets. Theres almost 1/10 chance to get 60 plat from a set and thats not bad at all imo.
Prices of sk on herne were 5k and sc was going for 10-12k per a week before the chests. Dropped to 3k for sk and 8k norm for sc a day after the chests. People save their plat for chests and won't buy sk in bundle unless it's for themselves specifically. Heck, no one buys sc from the plat store unless they use it to lvl themselves. Selling 125 sc 8k per is only 1 mil gold. Can easily sell alt books for 1.6 mil gold at 4k each. Chests keep all platinum items in circulation and I don't mind that.

However, the chance of receiving a mount should be increased. It was HUGE with maybe 200 staffs in summer 2013 and now there's only like 10 players with gliders per server come 2014
The plat value in crom is still 200 per, so the prices she mentioned are quite fair and still (in Crom) Maybe the value in herne is slightly higher due to the fact you have less plat buyers there? Or that the certain plat buyer wants to profit more (nothing wrong with that either) its an opened market.

Come to gwydion and ill buy 50 gold each O.o its about 200-250 each in gwydion... No one sells idols
Gwydion is an extremely overpriced server.
A lot of normal plat buyers, myself included, on Gwydion skipped buying plat for this latest round, so as a result the chests and plat items are still scarce. I like opening the chests, but 100 for 100 dollars and as many as 25 can have one backpack or one bank expansion and nothing else has soured my willingness to impulsively buy durning these events moving forward.

I like the new elixirs, but what inserting them now means is I am getting less if something else i may need more of like Heroic Hastes. Its cheaper and can wind up with more of what I need if I just buy on the secondary market even with inflated prices...sad but true.

I agree with this, but like other players who have given you feedback on this post, I must say it is in fact controversial. It is not your opinion that is controversial, but the actual truth of which is that chests help players gain platinum for gold. On one hand, its a win-win where the plat buyer now earns more gold from chests because chests do no correlate with the gold per plat which most servers have, while non-platinum players earn platinum items.

It is also important to note that pretty much only 1 out of 10 active players pays platinum, while the rest do not.

On the other hand however, it can also mean that the game is VERY platinum based. No matter how you see it, chests and how popular they are just enforce the fact that platinum items are necessary for gaming. And you cannot buy chests at an amount that actually effects economy without paying real money (which means the game is still plat based, even though not everyone has to pay anymore), the free platinum offers function is useless concerning chests.

I understand that your topic was meant to tell non-plat players that chests are good for them and not about the game being plat based, but I made this comment in order for that nobody becomes confused on the game being less non-plat.

what I see now is that when a new chest is released, the market is flooded with lix for a few weeks. Once that initial rush is over, the market dries up... and I mean super dry. What I see is that not many people outright buy plat items anymore. it all comes from chests, and when people are tired of opening chests it is almost impossible for the non-plat buyer to purchase any plat items with gold because they just aren't being sold.

Before chests back in v3, you would see people selling plat items consistently. It wouldn't be the flood and trickle that you see now since chests have been introduced. It was a regular stream of plat items that the regular non-plat buyer could access by paying gold. Now, you need to plan ahead and buy up as much lix as you can, while you can, because the flow of plat items will soon run out.

this is why i like the flash sales that OTM is doing. While they might not always be the best items, OTM is working to spur plat sales of regular items beyond just chests.

So from what I see, chests have imbalanced the market of plat items for the non-plat player, but the flash sales are working to correct that.
