Lately there has been alot of grumbling about dicing and how ppl may load them.
Callumallen has come up with a brillent idea to help randomize the dicing.
After the DM gets all items, the DM rolls his dice if DM rolls 50 or below then the low roll wins that drop, 51 and above, high roll wins.
DM will repeat for each item.
Please let us know what you think LUGH.
If in fact ppl are loading there dice as alluded too, this will resolve it.
Thanks All!

Re: Dicing concerns
#2If OTM uses a random number generator for dicing, the probability of rolling any given number should be the same each time you roll regardless of how many low rolls you spam. If it really is possible to 'load' dice that would be a HUGE flaw in OTM's programing.

#3I know I havent been on recently but...
I know what this topic is relating to. I myself have actually had a decent win ratio with the limited amount of times dicing. I do know that some folks seem to win a higher % and the only real way to 'unload' dice is to roll again. If, in fact its possible to 'load' dice.
The only way I see this being possible is to take the top 2-4 dice rolls and have re-rolls against each other. This would be complicated and time consuming but if players are determined it could get faster with repetition.
I honestly dont see this being a viable option as I dont think many will agree to it and slowing dice down isnt so good. But its the only reasonable idea i can think of if dicing is the chosen option for distributing drops.

#4Read this wikipedia entry explaining gamblers fallacy. If the dicing function is truly random 'loading' dice is impossible.

#5I actually think its a good idea. In my opinion dicing is random. But if dm rolls, and this determines high or low dice as winners, it should stop people from accusations of cheating by so-called spiking of dice. It wouldn't take up much more time to do this.

#6i thought, i thought about the DM rolling first, so no issue about him or her fortelling friends and clannies how he or she would decide on DMing. we were at the arena when i suggested this...lelzLately there has been alot of grumbling about dicing and how ppl may load them.

anyway, this might be a good thing. i have seen people go to spots and just dice before mordy or 200. it may not be affecting dicing as a whole but it does raise suspicions (cause im paranoid and i do not trust nobody anymore) lelz!
making it random, makes it harder though. why dont we give it a shot? maybe worth a try. im up for this.

let us see if more random players will win through this method. this was thought of, not point fingers but to avoid people from thinking that player A is hacking or whatever cause he or she always win. it spices up DMs role too.

Re: Dicing concerns
#7Personally, i think it is an extra step that we dont need. People roll before the dicing, because they think it does something, ive seen many of those people not win after doing that. I dont think prerolling affects winning chances

Re: Dicing concerns
#9It would add an extra 5 seconds to dicing and would be even more random. Why not?

Re: Dicing concerns
#10Just because OTM says its a random number generator doesn't make it true. I haven't been around long enough to know but have they ever showed the community the system?
I find it very challenging to believe in a system when I notice patterns that a small percentage of the same people are winning more often than the larger population. Not to mention, these people continue to roll extremely high rolls on a very frequent basis (between 97-100).
If it is random, great. Until it's proven to me i tend to think there is something that someone has figured out to give them a competitive advantage over everyone else.
+1 for new method. Never hurts to try something new.
