I confess that I am almost certainly less knowledgable regarding the mechanics of this game, than many of my contemporaries who have chosen to write here, and so hopefully any naive assertions I make will not draw too unforgiving an eye.
As I view things though, the scenario which sees a low level warrior out taunt a higher level one, is not a glitch as such. Or if it is, then it is assuredly less of one than the process of resetting in itself.
In fact, I suspect the former to be more a case of intended function, versus unforeseen application.
Just as target lock was introduced to take account of level, so was aggro also made to be effected by it. It simply wasn't envisaged to be applied in such a manner as resetting.
Calming and rooting, I dare say, were also implemented under a more positive rationale, and without consideration to players causing grief to one another either.
This oversight, however, can surely not be considered a glitch, and in the same way as a mob being drawn into a solid object (and thus resetting) might otherwise be.
To this end, it is difficult, if not hypocritical, to label taunt mechanics a cheat and a glitch, while at the same time claiming resetting to be all well and good.
Yes it's frustrating to lose a boss in these circumstances, but it is no less so for rivals when our clan resets by various means.
I also think it misrepresents the facts greatly, and to blame taunt mechanics for the up-serge in player inactivity.
Largely, rises and falls in activity are cyclic, due to content release schedules, but there are also political factors at play on each server that contribute, and have a causal effect on the declining population levels at any given time.
