Re: Formal world transfer system: pros, cons, and thoughts

Transferring a character would lead to some big issues one the technical end. For example, I have a Garat on each of the iOS worlds, and one android world. If my main decided to visit Epona, there would then be 2 Garat's on that world. I'm sure that would be true for some common names as well (gandalf, dps, killer, etc).

I do support item transfers, as cross world trading would be good. Economies would level each other out eventualy. A simple way to do it would be a second tier of Mail. Transfer stamps could cost double. Bound items cant go in mail. And if a clanie sells a drop on your server, or another, it is still lost to the clan, and that clan member will face whatever justice your clan meets out for that kind of activity. As far as rares... I think there are some servers that could do with a dose of reality regarding the actual value of items that dont kill mobs ;) if you want to keep selling pumpleroot for 100k, good luck finding a buyer. On the other hand, servers with few collectors might have some pumpleroot stashed away, and you can finnaly complete that set of 1000 you always wanted.

all the best clans could all xfer to 1 server and become unstopable. that would be no fun.
Or if you happened to end up on a server with one powerful clan, you could transfer off of it and join a different clan on a new world. That would be fun.
Except for the "oh look aggy is due on Gwydion! Let's all move there and camp" or "190 weapon boss up on Taranis, let's go" scenario, and then after locking and killing the boss, people move back to their home worlds.

If there is ever going to be character transferring, there needs to be some delay/cool-down to prevent world-jumping for bosses.

Why do people think server transfers will just work for them and not for the problems they are trying to leave? Why on my world a certain player sold thier contest shaman mount for about one thousand five hundred United States dollars worth of plat items and gold (25m). There are at least several people like this on every server. With no restrictions, even if the cost was 25 bucks, the allure of doing2-3 mordris, necro, hrung per DAY every DAY would be too much.

There would be NO where safe to transfer to all worlds would become property of the same elite 1%.

Wat shouldve happend is that each world has its own bosses, unaffected by other worlds, and ppl could log into any world they choose, a world of that size would be epic, there would be formations of lots of top clans, all having to keep times on every boss on each world. Think of the possibilities, it would be epic. Too late to implement this tho :(
