Re: An Insight on Class Inequality: Rangers vs. Rogues

A mordris void spear + axe of conquest on haste and casting 0 skills is the equivalent of having a bow on haste with no skills.

Both are strict auto damage, and reach the same speed cap. He is doing better because of the poison damage that's it.

It's always the same argument, rangers vs rogues,
Rangers are not rogues and are not meant to be so the comparison is completely wrong.
I'm not saying rangers don't need fixed there's clearly a problem that needs to be looked at, more you shouldn't compare one class to another to look for weaknesses, that's like a warrior saying he is broken as he doesn't have natures touch.
My understanding of rangers from otm description is they are a good all around middle class, jack of all master of none meaning they should be average in all areas but not the best at in one singly.

Heal but not as well as druids.
Survivability but not as good as warriors
Dps but not as good as rogues
Range attack but not as powerful as mages

Skill set needs looked into I agree, did not enjoy playing ranger personally, and in pvp they suck badly except against warriors.
Rangers are not broken because of rogues.

As I have stated time and time again Yakat, to make a general comment about class balance, you MUST take into considerations all aspects of the game.

Yes, we stand out of AOE's on most raids, but what about PVP and PvE? Bolas misses a ton-load by the way and no it doesn't make us invincible. It only delays our death because we are still not able to dish out the necessary damage to kill the incoming mob.
I'm PvP there are definitely issues regarding the ranger class. In PvE(you described PvE as leveling and farming) bolas doesn't miss as much right? I know the evasions on endgame bosses suck but I thought normal mobs weren't too bad? I know lots of 190+ rangers who love how great they are at farming. For solo leveling due to ranger's having less than desirable dps they tend to not get as much xp as rogues or mages. I do know that when I leveled I loved rangers for the fact they dealt decent damage while buffing my dps and healing me. Way less plat used and the xp was always pretty good. I know mid levels for rangers are real annoying. At low levels the skills actually are good(I have a nub ranger) but that changes as you progress. Once DL comes about your autos become way better and you get good skill bonuses. In between low levels and DL is where there are problems leveling because of the tightly packed rooms making bolas and long shot not so great. Rangers do have camo though and from what I've heard that helps a ton in packed rooms(I haven't leveled a ranger so high so I wouldn't know for sure).
I have a real challenge for you Yakat. Level your ranger all the way up to 190 without offgroup help. Then post on forums why rangers are the most balanced class.
Who needs offgroup help when rangers are amazing in group?

Not true. Dl quivers divine damage favors the bow over spear build.
The ranger he is talking about probably did not have the quiver.
DL quiver is only a big advantage on chaos mobs. On regular mobs, damage would be about the same with the comparison I made.

Answer this.... You are walking through the ow, you stumble upon Woodcrown :D no plat items, no one to help you... Ranger or rogue?
Neither. Woodcrown is meant to be taken down by a well balanced group of levels 115-130 individuals. If you are higher than that, you still need a tank or a druid to kill him.

Killing bosses is not about showing your big guns and rushing head first into the fight. It's about strategy and fulfillment of that strategy. Currently as it is, a group with a tank, rogues and a druid do not need a a ranger to take down a raid boss such as Woodcrown because we add nothing to the fight but inferior DPS compared to rogues. Our support skills? Other than light heal and maybe bolas if the tank is not able to sustain the fight, they suck.

Fact is, inequality exists.
