I see. Interesting. So anyone who don't want to participate in the allied clans are considered outcasts and ostracized by the server to stifle any competition. I find the 'savage worlds' comment ridiculous.

I understand the guys you are talking about are douchebags and deserve whatever they get, but if other people play on your server then they have no choice but to fall in line or be hated by the whole server. Who do people ask permission from to kill Sreng or Snorri if the lords of the servers aren't online?
That's the thing, there are no "lords of the server". Literally every player is part of what you call the "allied clans". Very infrequently is anyone ostracized. I can think of 2? Maybe 3? Players that have behaved so badly that they have been ostracized, since I started playing in the summer of 2012. No one would kill Sreng or Snorri independently, because there are not enough players outside of the system to kill any "real" boss. Personally I don't mind a bit of friendly competition, but there was a bit of unfriendly competition a bit earlier in the life of the server and it kind of disgusted everyone. And yes, it's silly to think that other servers are "savage". (Though I suppose it could be argued that people in general are savage ;) )

This discussion with Aileron (and other discussions I have had in the past with players) makes me think it might be a good idea to make a post about how our server works in general and maybe a bit about some of the clans. I'll try to come up with something this afternoon. I've seen at least one other server with a stickied topic on the forums describing their server. (Though I suppose it is possible that Aileron understand a bit more about how our server works then he lets on and simply wants to prove Avalon's way is better. That doesn't bother me. I admire what Aileron and Avalon have accomplished. From what I have seen, his clan is very close knit and has very hardworking leaders. I like the system that we use here on Lugh, and I applaud what Avalon has accomplished. I don't believe either system is better than the other. There are positive aspects to both systems, and there are perhaps different goals that the players in each system have set for themselves.)

The only thing meant by a 'ban' is that when they arrive at a boss they simply won't be rolling for any drops(they can roll all they want they just won't receive anything) unless of course they can lock it. This is the closest thing to competition Lugh will have: the whole server vs 4-5 160-190 warriors lol.

Hey if they can kill sreng/snorri or whatever then I applaud their efforts, so be it, that's just how it works.

I'm not in anyway saying "the Avalon way" is the right way, don't get me wrong. I'm simply interested in how the Lugh server social dynamics work.

I find it unbelievable that no 4-5 man group can kill Sreng without calling the whole server to do a "server raid", especially in the off hours when most of US players are asleep and Sreng is up, do the folks in Asia/Pacific wait? What's stopping them from killing Sreng and taking the drops? Will they be banned from future Sreng raids?

Clans or small groups of people can kill these bosses, they just tend to follow server etiquette should other people show up before lock.
World: Epona

Alyssandra Ranger Lvl 221
Atropos Druid Lvl 225
Nyssa Rogue Lvl 215
Briar Rose Mage Lvl 215

Lasciel Rogue Lvl 217
Owl Ranger Lvl 190
Lenore Druid Lvl 191

I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

So if a group camps Snorri for 55minutes he spawns and the group engages, then 2 people showed up before lock, theyre required to let them newcomers roll on the crowns?

Yes we use lock or half(whichever comes first) to determine if a player is on time or late.
It has it's pros and cons definitely but we find it to be pretty fair and all have agreed on it.

People do kill bosses on their own, it's not a requirement to call. It's just the way our world works to allow and accept anyone and everyone if they fit our requirements:
Of level, not afking, on time, and obviously being accepted into the community.

It's amazing how your world has evolved a system like that. There must be plenty of saints seeing their hard work go to naught. I applaud them for their patience.

Last question, why haven't you guys made a super clan that recruits every raid-eligible player in the server?

Aileron are you trying to understand our world? Or stir the collective pot that is Lugh? . . . . ;)

I would say in my experience camping is relative and based on need. When people need they camp. But, people are usually always camping and rarely does a boss not reach lock quite quickly. And, with smaller bosses that people don't camp, people are usually happy for the help. And believe it or not, we have shared drops accross clans on this server :o AND . . . people just show up to help at bosses and pass on the drops  Just cause they are nice people . . . .

Actually it is an amazing server and precedent in that respect

I do think we are going off topic here though :)

Oh trust me, I was like the third rogue to 180 and full dl and I'm still camping my offhand, patience is the name of the game.

I've suggested it but people don't really want to socialize with others(random people), they just want to play the game and that's what's offered here in Lugh. I also suggested DKP but the thing is we have a large amount of players that are mainly all casual so we have a different group for near every boss near every time. DKP won't work for the majority of players therefore it won't happen for a long time.
