When lvling u will usually hit 95% of the time, so i dont see value in smokebomb for lvling

Quickstrike and double attack may do similar dmg, so i would just use the skill that seems to do more dmg, but if they r close, then use quickstrike, it can be used with anything, fists, spear, dagger, mount

Shadowstrike, quickstrike or double attack (not both), fast reflexes, life steal, riposte (1/2 maxed)
I use dagger, but if u prefer spear then that would be fine, these skills dont require any specific wep
