Re: Formal world transfer system: pros, cons, and thoughts

Hi people, Penelope from Crom here. I’ve been playing around with different servers over the past couple weeks to see what it’s like outside of Crom. Not planning on moving (I like Crom ☺), but it has me thinking about world transfers and the current system (really, lack of a system). I used the forum search bar a bit to see if OTM had ever mentioned thinking about creating a formal world transfer system, and didn’t really find much beyond “we’ll mention it to the team.”

I thought of a few questions to get some discussion going and see what other people think:

-Should there be a formal, secure world transfer system created by OTM?
-What should it look like, if you’re in favor?
-If you’re not in favor, why?
-Maybe most importantly, what impact would such a system have on the current server communities and economies?

The extremes of a world transfer system: on one end, you’d be able to move your current character and all of its inventory and wealth to a new world, retaining your level. On the other end: what we have now. There are a huge number of options in between, like being able to transfer inventory items but not gold or level, or being able to transfer gold and inventory but not level, or just level and no inventory or gold, etc. Another layer of limits could be implemented, such as being able to transfer a max of 5 items and 50k for example, or limiting each account to one character from one world to one other world.

Listing pros and cons of a world transfer system could be helpful in deciding what the system would look like or if there should be one at all.

Pros:
-Try out different worlds
-Meet different people
-Find a niche! Maybe some worlds are missing a certain item or type of player.
-Would probably spread the power out more equally between servers. (pro or con?)
-Reduce personal conflict within a world?
-More?

Cons:
-Crashed economies
-Crashed markets for rares and other items
-Scammers could move items or characters more easily
-Destroyed communities/character of each server
-Would probably spread the power out more equally between servers. (pro or con?)
-More?

If they can figure out a system that emphasizes the pros and reduces the cons as much as possible, it could be great.

Thoughts?

This is quite a neat idea and would solve the economy issue that I personally don't see as an issue anyway but my problem is the risk factor is still there, I've done a few transfers with other players and not had any problems but then I know people that's been scammed of there things.

I personally think the best way to go is make every world playable by everyone. Would gwt rid of the extremely boring worst part of the game(camping) because we could just hop worlds till we find a boss up then call clan to it and so on. Imagine doing 2 mords and Hrungs in one day. People would be much happier I think since it would greatly increase chances of getting the ever so rare good drops. Also players would have a muuch wider clan base to choose from instead of one or two clans owning a single server. So therefor adding more competition to the game, keeping it more interesting. Also making it easier to gear players or find lvling spots

Just keep in mind that those who are saying that the economies will crash, or whatever, are the same people who thrive off of over inflating prices for their own personal gain. These guys only care about keeping their items above normal pricing and controlling the markets. Even if rares could get from one server to another if it truly is considered "rare" then its value will hold regardless of the condition of the economy. This is just a ploy for them to keep monopolizing the "fragile" world economy.

I have bought and paid for my items once. I will not pay for the same thing twice. So why in the heck would I start over from scratch on another world. Is it my fault that the server I chose was a pathetic choice for me? There was no description telling me that if I wanted to enjoy endgame content that I would have to go through a third party application process and play by their rules, not the game that the creators made. If this was in a world description I would have chosen another.

That would be true if clans like mine actually sell rare raid items at inflated prices. I know Lugh sells them, not sure many clans do, tbh.

Another incorrect premise leading to an incorrect conclusion.

Aileron, you do know that there are more worlds in CH than just Morrigan? I am saying my piece hoping that the devs take this into consideration so that I can hopefully get away from the fun-fair, positive, peaceful, everything is wonderful world that you have created (in your own mind). Let's be totally honest here. Most of the screwed up problems that exist in the game are because you had the ear of the developers in the early stages. Yes that game has been great for you, but for a mobile platform, well, here we are today. I hope the new team of developers don't make the same mistakes as they did in the past.
The whole point of a transfer system is so that players can move legally without being scammed. My perfect world idea of a transfer system would be one that uses the mailbox system but only moves from server to server on that account only. I am for having to start a new char from level zero, but just being able to transfer lux items and gold would be sufficient in the game. Discs, rems, tabs, and other drops should just be world bound in my opinion. Anything bought from a shop should be world transferable.

Another incorrect premise. I *wish* devs actually listened to me so we wont have a boring camping game with bound unique items, and endless elixir grinding that OTM calls "RPG".

Your posts contradict each other. You were talking about how folks who are against transfers are the ones who want to control prices of drops and then be an advocate of having drops world bound.
