The rogues I leveled with would pull multiple creatures and riposte and I would swarm, vines and strike.

Sure it does if you want to maximize damage and faster kills.

I always liked haste ring/lix/gloves with axe offhand and totem main hand.

Fiery or freezing...arcane isnt that good but it doesnt matter that much

Cold, heat, magic offhands won't matter which you have overall. Having run 3 toons with all 3 damage types on similar mobs in various areas, the damage difference was extremely nil. What will make the difference is what lures your mages use, then you will want to go with that damage type.

So pick the damage mages lure with. Other than that it won't matter if you go cold, heat, or magic
