Re: Well I got robbed.

Somewhat ironically, under Pigman's law of reciprocity, if your friend was to find his own vehicle out of commission then he may be requiring certain financial errands of yourself, in which case it would be unfortunate if you, too, were 'robbed'.
In all seriousness though, I certainly wouldn't recommend taking matters into your own hands, as this will most likely only escalate and compound your problems further.
The best thing I would say is to explore legal channels for restitution and financial recompense / remuneration.
It should also be worth noting that however implausible or improbable the events described by your friend may seem, they are not technically impossible.
If indeed he was the victim of a robbery, then he would surely have brought the matter to the attention of the authorities who should thus have a corresponding incident report filed for the date in question. If not, then certain question marks will be raised.
There are also avenues such as small claims courts etc, the processes for which will vary according to the country in question.
Many countries may also offer free advice services, similar to the Citizen's Advice Bureau in the UK, which can be of far greater service than anything that I may write here, and could also be a good port of call.
Oberyn is right in so much as certain cheques may have stops placed on them, subject to certain conditions being met, in which event you should contact the issuer, though I assume by your posting this topic that this particular ship has sailed already.
As a side note, you might also want to proactively conduct an assessment of your banking account, to determine the likely impact of this incident and take steps regarding damage limitation... Losing this money is bad enough, but factor in unpaid cheques / mandate charges, cleared transaction fees and unauthorised overdraft penalties and the situation could be much more bleak. If you foresee any problems then be sure to contact your bank straight away to see what options are open to you.

Best of luck,

Magustra
Wish I could write like you, your english is beautifully crafted.

Yes. Magustara definitely impressed me in the Walking Dead discussion and this, even more! Amazing!

So...I tried to find an error... And I think I did.

commas are needed to separate the "I would say" part. If not, then it means the best thing you [ever] say is to explore...

Sorry..had to vent my jealousy :)
Regardless, props to you friend!

Anything is possible with some very strong laxative medicine.

I must agree with you, as I accidentally taught myself how to make a horse laxative, imagine what it would do to a human.
How do you accidentally teach yourself to make a horse laxative? I'm intrigued and terrified.
