Re: An Insight on Class Inequality: Rangers vs. Rogues

Alb! You are back! Allright, now please answer the question. If rogues ARENT meant to have the highest dps, then what is that class's actual purpose?

Criminal you kinda glazed this question but the answer you gave was somewhat indirect and didn't actually have to do with the question, you said something along the lines of "there were rogues before carrow when their dps wasn't as great", but that isn't quite what I am looking for... I want an actual answer that addresses that... Even if you say something ludicrous like ''to smoke bomb the bosses and poison weapon all of the rangers", idc, I just want your view on why the class 'Rogue' exists if it isn't meant to be the highest dps, either short or long term.
No different than that of a ranger. And you've yet to provide the purpose of a ranger so I'll let you decide that. Both classes have damage skills, same armor, survivability skills, healing, debuffs, buffs, etc. Seems to me that we're playing the same role of dps/support/sustainability and should have similar damage outputs. The only major difference being that I'm shooting a bow and rogues use toothpicks.

Hahaha that was almost as ludicrous as my example.... First off, i clearly outlined a Rangers purpose in a post not too far back even, sounds like you need to catch up..

Also..... What? Lmao...... Seriously though, what? Did you really just compare the survivability of a rogue and a ranger, and then even go so far as to include healing? Lmao.... As a ranger you can bolas a boss forever, you have camoflauge skills not only for yourself, but your whole group with conceal, and anyone you choose for that matter... Let's move on to buffs, you really think a rogues only damage buff equals that of a Rangers? Especially in this update? Lol, not even going to go into detail about that... Debuffs, the only debuffs a rogue has ARE THINGS THAT MAKE HIM EVEN STRONGER lol, while a ranger is given debuffs like entangle, bolas, and Longshot if you view it that way and use it effectively... I guess the only thing that a rogue has that a ranger doesn't have in terms of survivability is Fast Reflexes, but still, even with a high fast reflexes, it isn't too effective unless you are training... If you are fighting a boss and you are relying on fast reflexes to be the thing that keeps you alive, God bless you.. But wait... Don't people in ch normally fight bosses with tanks? Well if the tank has agro, FR is 100% meaningless..... I don't know if you were serious or not about comparing those two classes in survivability, but that is definitely not the case

Fast reflexes, riposte, lifesteal and other rogue skills that aren't very useful on bosses during raids are actually quite useful. Nearly all of the time the tank cant tank everything for various reasons. Rogues often go on add killing duty and for that these skills work swimmingly. Poor add control has lost many a boss fight so it's an important role.

Both rogues and rangers have thier benefits and drawbacks and i like mine about equally well overall.

Given whats been done with poison resist i think poison weapon could use a bit of a buff.

Rangers need their support skills overhauled - entangle could use a buff.

Both rangers and rogues could benefit from skewer being fixed, as it stands its among the worst skills in the game. It could do with a massive damage buff.

Since you are all arguing what the role of classes should be, here are the definitions that OTM laid out for rangers and rogues:
That just shows to know they don't know about their own game then. Main attribute dexterity??? I doubt that most rangers are a dex build. Imo it's only useful to be a Dex build until the 120 area, then all ours skills go downhill by a ton. Should've been str and dex instead of dex only.
