Actually now that I think about it that does make more sense. If they were to fix the issues they would ask for the device details and such.

1. Gift every old device player with a brand new device (highly unlikely).
2. Take your toon information so they can track server side information and performance on your devices to improve it in the long-run.
3. Transfer your toons to Android because they technically screwed you over. (Highly unlikely since they said they can't do it which I doubt)
