If the guide says that dex makes bolas hit more, then the guide is wrong. Stat points have zero impact on skills evading, otherwise it would say so on the actual skill page.

It doesn't matter what the ranger guide says. Look at the actual skill. You can have 0 dex and bolas will land just as well as if you have 1 million dex

I liked having an even amount of strength/Dex until around level 120-130. That is when I switched to strength build, the only Dex based skill I used was longshot, which I didn't use past L160 because my auto attack became my strongest damage overall.

I'm not sure if you played ranger if you prefer dex builds from. 90-160 (approx) when I started my ranger I struggled to get the best out of My lixes running a dex based build. Then my friend suggested a strength build and I never turned back. Later on endgame you will find dex I build to make bolas hit a bit more and a stronger light heal. Dex does add defense but with this events gear I wouldn't be surprised if you average a boost of 2k dex and a good amount of hp from new jewelry alone.

I believe dex can only improve the speed reduction, but thats just an estimate.

The only reason I can think is to add some def and attack. My ranger has 1200 str and 5k hp. I had 300 points left over to spend. 5k hp was more than enough but my attack was only at 3.9 so I funneled those 300 points into dex as the jump to 1500 str really didn't add much.

Doing some messing with stat points, it seems the next big dmg jump after 1200 is 1800 for some reason. But I just don't feel like spending the amount of gold it would take to get to 1800 str aside from having the coolness of a 3k dmg stat
