And the other thing I've been told is that you're both the same person. So everything I've said is directed to you.sounds like you accept defeat.

this is not true. And the other thing I've been told is that you're both the same person. So everything I've said is directed to you.sounds like you accept defeat.
I'm gonna have to agree with Armo. Fires mages are going to get the kills on a level appropriate 6* boss over ice. As for the 4/5* rogues are gonna kill/lock before you even get a shot off.Fire is only better for bossing(and even then a ice mage can get the kill). Since very few enemies are bosses compared to all enemies, ice is generally better because of the burst damage to kill high lv mobs/small bosses quicker then fire. Also most of the time when you camp a boss its a 4/5*, which is quickly taken down(ice more dps there). Even as ice its still not hard to get kills on 6*(if you do not belive me check my 6* kills(i havent been boss fighting for almost a year also, should be more)). I also like ice because of the extra range ice blast has over firestorm. There's reasons you can be either, but ever since i started(even before ice blast existed) i always was ice, and thats what i prefer.Fire is better dps than ice pretty much the entire fight after 10 seconds and no one can prove otherwise.
Ice can still get the kill on *6, just depends how fast it is killed and gear. But ice is better then fire for locking 4/5*. A rogue combo will do less damage then a lured ice shard/blast combo. So locking *5 is fairly easy. Locking *4 may be a bit tougher but I got locking hits on stonecrusher(*4 snorri) with an unlured ice shard before, you just have to be ready like everyone else to attack it as soon as it appears.I'm gonna have to agree with Armo. Ice is better on short fights due to burst damage(quick heavy damage hits), which is good because of the lock working mid-fight.Fire is not only good for 6* not to mention I fail to see why cant fire be great to lock 5* and 4*, perhaps ice is better on 5* but fire is definitely great. Not to mention I can show u a great pvp fire mage.
Well Furyion, clearly you didn't want to do the math so I instead did it for you.
Using Swan's skill damage formulas:
Level 50 Fire Bolt Damage = 72.853*sqrt(Focus) + 21.611*sqrt(Fire Magic) + 264.84 + Fire Attunement Damage Boost
Level 50 Firestorm Damage = 90.164*sqrt(Focus) + 25.515*sqrt(Fire Magic) + 365.43 + Fire Attunement Damage Boost
Level 50 Ice Blast Damage = 117.97*sqrt(Focus) + 32.835*sqrt(Ice Magic) + 487.25 + Ice Attunement Damage Boost
Level 50 Ice Shards Damage = 96.322*sqrt(Focus) + 30.47*sqrt(Ice Magic) + 702.43 + Ice Attunement Damage Boost
Will be ignoring attunement and any direct damage boosting items for fair comparison. Will be assuming a mage has 2000 focus and 3000 fire/ice magic.
Inserting these numbers into the formulas, you get:Recast times for each skill without cool down reductions are also shown.
I then proceeded to spam skills at a target and record how many times I could use each skill within certain time frames, these are the results I got.The figures are accumulated and are up to the time period. (e.g. for time 20, fire mages could cast 3 fire bolts and 1 fire storm up to 20 seconds into the fight)
Applying these figures to the damage numbers from the skill formulas, I got:Finally, summing all these figures in the respective time periods, I got:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These results are actually more impressive than I had initially thought since I thought Ice Mages actually had a chance until 30 seconds. But nope, after fire mages cast their second fire bolt (7 seconds into the fight) they have officially dealt more damage and will continue to do so for the rest of the fight. The one single exception is during the 15-20 second mark where ice mages can recast both their skills.
Even with attune, you can see any damage bonuses increase proportionally. Doesn't matter if ice boosts add more, fire casts quicker to make up for this.Assuming both mages have:
- Two godly silverweb rings: Fire bolt gets damage buff of 2x450 (900), Ice shards gets damage buff of 2x900 (1800)
- Godly trollblood hrung helms: Fire storm gets damage buff of 800, Ice shards gets damage buff of 1000
- Godly mordris bracelets: Fire bolt gets damage buff of 510, Ice blast gets damage buff of 1000
Inputting these we end up with:You end up with pretty much the same results with the highest tier gear... Fire mage is always superior in DPS except for the 15-20 second mark. I cannot test cooldown yet since I don't have a shards skull, but if you guys still decide to ignore the obvious then I might borrow a clanny's.
