Thanks for the on topic reply, and i bow to your wisdom (bout ranger skills) :P

I see your point about dieing, but a big rule of dps is that no matter how much you do, it doesnt matter once you are dead. But i dont think the period of time it takes to get back up really changes your lock teams dps till the idol timer starts, unless your skills get inturupted.

But what i want to focus on is the use of the ammy. Its inconveniant for rangers in the long term (past lock on boss, leveling, dueling) and its price doesnt exactly make rangers want to buy it 'just for locking'. So while it may increase rangers burst damage, it isnt a very attractive product and therefore loses its ability to close the gap. So while i have to agree with you that it would potentially increase rangers burst damage, otm made it too expensive and class restrictive for most rangers to use.

Also, just a question since i dont do endgame bosses which is why so many of the things im saying are assumptions and not facts, but how common is having a ranger in a lock team? Rogues will always do more burst damage in these situations, and id imagine more rogues bought this ammy then rangers. (Alot more conveniant once ur already up there rather then running up.) seems like rogues would generally be put in the lock team and therefore leave no rangers any reason to buy the ammy, making it even more irrelevant to rangers, who dont need it for overall damage on the boss, dont need it for lock, and dont need it for leveling. Tieing this to the next few paragraphs, it seems to me that other classes could be more involved in locking if instead of trying to make outside skills availible for a large amount of gold, and were given skills that actually boosted their dps.

Hopefully otm will stop making ammys for rangers that increase attack or defense, but instead make a skill that works from afar, so rangers will no longer be at a disadvantage just because they are ranged and otm couldnt make an ammy with the skill being ranged.

And just to bring this discussion to where it began, instead of relying on an ammy to "close" the gap between rogues and other classes, just buff the other classes by giving them a "rogue like" skill. While an armour pierce skill may be too op, maybe a ignore half of armour skill may work better. (Btw, since reading rangers apprentice i associate rangers with being able to pierce armour (or just shoot right into the exposed spots), which is why that idea keeps coming to mind :D)

On crom (if the people are on) there's usually am even number of rogues rangers all depending on which ones are on. Rogues might have burst damage but there are quite a few rangers who have incredibly high autos due to gear etc that make them better in the long run.

Burst damage is king in locking 1-3* mobs and even 4* like placeholders for dl/xdl. On 5* its important but not all important. A full group of rogues can basically lock a rockhide (snorri) 5*. For the 6* bosses it takes so much its not too important.

Often there aren't enough rogues to fill a lock group so it's every class like warriors and mages as well, sometimes even dps druids. But pretty much everyone gets the boot when rogues show up on nearly any boss.

Every class needs skills fixed, probably rogues need the least tweaking and rangers the most.

Yes the game needs balancing. I have said in the past there are ways to do this by making some bosses weak against nature magic, or fire or ice, or that basically require bola or entangle and are weak against them or that you have to tank/bash. This would allow more people to be included and not make one class the lock and win every battle class which would improve the gameplay overall.

On gwyidon people were forced to make rogue alts over the years due to there heavy locking ability, we have 90% of our eg classes are rogue, it's terrible.. So we always have groups of rogues against other rogues with one or two Rangers also in the lock group, we have a Druid who comes in our lock groups often and she is pretty good, even got a mordy kill once

Warriors are pretty bad at locking 4*s (I simply get frozen before being able to cast anything), and the sun ammy isnt as good for them, but again I think it should take the weapon's range, as its idiotic a ranger needs to step so close to actually use it.

what does dex skills doing less dmg than pure auto attack have to do with supporting the class either way?

You play the game to have fun, and i find auto attacking and going afk is not my thing, so. Ofc i like dex rangers. Does that mean they are awesome? No.

No class in any game should be auto attacking the whole time because its a waste of time to use skills ( any build). And if they are the game is quite fuc*** up (which it is).
So str based Rangers should pull their heads out of their asses? Because it's the most dpsy way to play this game which is mostly based on the best dps wins?

Perhaps it's you and the other guy that needs their heads removed from their nether regions?
No man, im saying they should fix dex skills AND make some str skills! Im saying that its a problem if your auto is your strongest dps/s . A problem for the class. Thats why i made the anti auto build....as a batsignal of sufferage against otm making it this way!
