Bonjour, hola, and hallo!

Good morning folks,

Recent new player here. Normally I don't sign up for any forums related to any game, unless, of course, I can see the value in it. And by value, I mean that the game is fun and I can see at least minimal longevity in it. That being said, I've tries just about every single mobile RPG out there and they're all rubbish. It seems that mobile games are falling into three categories these days; pseudo-online, auto-playing, or apple-games. I had given up all hope that anyone that actually knew what "fun" meant was taking the time to learn how to program for mobile devices. And then I said to myself, "What the heck, let's give this one a try...." It was on of about two dozen games that I installed and promptly uninstalled, of which, one other game remains (Angel of Revenge is the other - fun for about a week, but superb monotonous and boring after the initial novelty wears off).

I must say, I am really surprised with Celtic Heroes; the game is very well polished and it adheres to many of the fundamental characteristics that MMORPG's yielded "back in the day" (which was a Tuesday, by the way).

I was an original Beta-Tester for Asheron's Call in 1999, when beta testing actually meant testing, not just some glorified pre-order bonus. I have tries them all since then, and nothing else has even remotely compared, with the exception of Neverwinter Nights (the BioWare remake, not the original AOL version or Cryptics modern cash-grab version) in which I spent many years building and designing a few persistent worlds (World of Caenyr and Ith'Landriel). Eventually, facing a divorce and my return to college, creating awesomeness was something that was put on the back-burner. I've always loved to create, and my roleplaying roots herald back to the days of AD&D 1st and 2nd Edition... None of this 3rd+ garbage....THAC0 for life! LOL!

This game is very reminiscent of the original MMORPG's, and feels like a combination of AC, AC2, and DAoC. There are no instances, you can actually team up and meet people in the wilderness, and it has a quest driven storyline that is more than "find guy with question mark above his head, do random quest, rinse, repeat". With today's ADHD fast-food culture that these "kids" have (yes, I am older then most) I never thought I would find a game that recaptures what makes this genre fun. Heck, I STILL to this day play AC because there just simply is nothing else that compares. Of course, even that has been dumbed down over the years, with the removal of spell research and all, but I digress.

In the daylight (aka real.life) I am MUMPS programmer working with VistA. I have 7 kids(of which 5 are still in the house) so neither time nor money are luxuries that I can afford to significantly invest in any game. It's refreshing to fimd a game that doesn't attempt to swindle the players our of one or the other, or both (aka Cryprics Neverwinter).

With that all said, I am here and saying "Hello!" Loving the game, and am still very surprised by it. However, at this point, I must cut my narrative short, as it is just about time to head to work.

Have a great day folks!

So do you natively speak French, Spanish, or German? :D Welcome to the game and the forums!
Haha! No, actually I am a native English speaker, however, I have a love of language in general (I would have majored in Linguistics in college, but they didn't offer that program, so I had to settle for Cognitive Science). I did study French in high school, which came in very handy in Haiti (Haitian Creole shares much of its vocabulary with French), and since we're living in the Southwest now, the kids are learning Spanish. Plus, I lived with a roommate for about a year who spoke German, so I am pretty familiar with all three (or four, if you count Creole).

However, the title of the thread was merely meant to be slightly more interesting than your average "Hello!" Lol! ;-)

Just wondering, have you ever played EQOA:Frontiers ?
I never heard of it. I had to Google it and realized how many expansions and ports there were for that game. I was fairly surprised.

I've only played the first EverQuest briefly and never really got into it. However, EQN looks like something...
