Re: Your quick guide to being a merchant

i bought 5 camo charms at 100k each from shop. Sold them at 5m each. I beat Warren Buffet on the ROI. If you want to brag about how much profit you have made buying and selling stuff, you have to beat me.
Well, technically I multiplied my starting amount more than you, so technically speaking I would be the more efficient merchant. I started with about 250 gold, 150k=250*600, while 5m=100k*50. You'd still have a higher profit though :D
I started from lvl 1 and 0 gold now hold 30mil in gold and tons of items so I think I beat a lot (to be fair after I farmed 8k I started merching) it took 2 years to get though my overall networth in game maybe 60mil
It doesn't matter what you claim your net worth is or what your gold count is. Look at how valuable end game gear is. If you're in an end game clan in full edl you're richer than any merchant.

Yes I used to merch all day every day and yes I would consider myself wealthy in terms of tradable assets. I also have full edl and top of the line raid jewellery and if I had to choose gold or gear it would be my gear every time.

I agree with this.

But I disagree to this.

Gear can only lose value in the long run, investment wise it's a bad idea.

Gear can only lose value in the long run, which is why I don't rely on bossing for gold anymore. Being a merchant is the greatest way to make gold.
Ive never been end game but ive "merched" and its a great way to make gold even on a small scale.

No trade gear is self explanatory I don't think anyone expects it to have tradable value.

If gear just goes down in cost there is no point marching.

Personally I bought two reaper rings used during the event and they have gone up millions. Other gear does hold its value as well.

Some things(like reaper rings, camo charms, and xp pendents) people just buy because they assume it's the best, without doing any research. Stuff along those lines is easy to trick people into overpaying for.

But 95% of gear falls in value, most notibly end game gear. Think about aggy trident prices back then and now for a good example.

Holding gear for value is a bad idea, as one sudden change(new events, new skills like rupture(that makes swords and spears worse for warriors), new endgame bosses) can drastically change the price of said gear.

Also with events, more often then not new event gear beats old event gear. In the rare case it doesn't then there may be a small price increase, however said gear will not stay good forever, something always beats it down the road. That is why I do not deal in event lux/boss drops, as it doesn't always sell, and if I'm stuck with it there's a chance it can go bad.

Reaper ring is no longer as good for the high levels above level 200. You can now buy haste ring and other lux gears with attack bonus. And the poison skill from the reaper is over rated given that it is useless for necro and many mobs and edl bosses in tower have poison resist. Reaper ring is good only for the lower levels because of its relatively low requirement to wear it.
