State of the Game: 2+ Weeks after the Update.

#1
I feel like a thread should be made to address the entire update and the progress and lack of progress since the release.

Largely, I think everyone can agree that the first release of the Update was rocky, far too many things needed to be tweaked initially in terms of SV mob difficulty, assorted bank issues, assorted item bugs, assorted targeting and build issues. In the defense of the company the next week One Thumb patched quite quickly to repair a flurry of issues surrounding the distressed players. Was it perfect, not at all, but the major sore points were corrected or at least addressed initially.

However, another week further into the update and a huge amount of just pure fatigue has set into the player base. The Otherworld, promised by One thumb to be quickly patched with more quest content and more purpose is undeniably right now completely without purpose. You grind, and then you grind, and then you grind. And if yer not grinding Exp, yer grinding skill pages, or skills covers or skill bindings, but the point is, the flavor and the excitement of the game has boiled down to just a grind. One thumb has alluded to much more content coming, upgraded met, new fixes etc.. but the fact is that many players just simply feel burnt out. Some have quit all together, some are just barely hanging on.

The grind to get abilities, the grind to get the skills this update was supposed to offer, which for many classes such as Mage esoecially was supposed to redesign their DPS simply aren't at all accessible or gotten. So the classes (especially Mages) remain unbalanced.

There's no denying that the Update has given a ton to a new player base, but the older player base has felt the brunt of a promise to patch and give more content, and right now the patience of everyone is just worn, One Thumb needs to help illuminate the patch schedule and the notes of those tweaks and additions so people burnt out now can gauge whether they wanna stay or move on.

Add your thoughts as you see fit.

Not in otherworld yet and haven't found a single page for my mage. New abilities are leveling slow too so hard to tell the true difficulty of enemies.

Can we have a training grounds or something so we can get our abilities up to where they should be faster?

It would be fun, mabye in the arena you could have things shooting spells at us lol
Nerfed Mage ~140
Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Yup or just a random hard to kill boss that spawns in the arena and doesn't really do any DMG but just AoE's all kinds of skills on everyone to get all your abilities leveled faster. And maybe it can drop basic crystal gear or something, make it a kinda of PvP and PvE brawl.

heh nice.

And you know what I think would really help fatigue? More safe spots in (PvE) combat areas. Maybe even mark off these spots so players know where they won't be randomly aggro'd.

Or only one spawn point would aggro you.

Hey there

We are releasing a patch midweek which will hopefully help a lot with this.

It'll have the meteoric upgrades in as well as some game balance improvements and some new items and improvements to OW graphics and lots of other stuff.

However it is going to take a few patches to get this right which is where the feedback is very valuable.

The content coming down the line is going to be constantly improving, from new areas, new character models, rare mobs etc. The team is getting bigger and better and faster at at creating the stuff so the speed of creation is improving but this stuff still takes time to create.

Thanks!

I agree we need more safe spots in OW. Not only is the game a grind but in order to get XP I either have to use lots of restore pots or idols to stay alive and maintain my current location on the map... OR i have to run my ass off from the beginning laystone every time I die to make it to a location on the map where I get decent xp for my kills. I understand some of the intention was that we would group more often and do less soloing but this is difficult because frustrated players are leaving the game or waiting for patches before committing more time. Sooooo.... I'm mostly stuck soloing. Not always, but quite a bit.

I like OW. It looks cool. It has lots of potential. I've given up on getting new skills kinda like I gave up on dragon frags previously. I figure I'll just get them some day when the required items fall into my lap. I'm not a lazy player but I can't seem to get most quest items. Finally got my first moonstone of Cerridwin yesterday. I'm not looking anymore. I notice the time goes by faster and is less frustrating if I just dont care. But I have to say driving your players to a place of needing to "not care' in order to not get frustrated is bad news.

A friend of mine who plays lots of MMO's told me in his past experience lots of games die once players start getting above level 100. I hope he's wrong cuz I love this game.

Anyway.....

GOOD JOB DEVELOPERS!!! I'M STILL STICKING AROUND!!! LETS JUST GET TO REALIZING THIS GAMES FULL POTENTIAL!!!

- Difficulty of the game in a curtain area need to be lowered a bit more I think.
- The arena need to be bigger and need to attract more competitions like clan vs clan or free for all clans killing big boss and each other for pints (winner clan gets reward).
- Skill(s) Pages and abilities need to be 'now' fix and well sorted.
- classes balance required more touching up.

Grinding is an evil part of the game.
I have noticed people leaving the game or get very irritated from the updates and losing enjoyments.

I can understand the developing side to see all the complains making the staff losing confidence but onethumb got to get it together and pick up the game.
I'll remain to support your work if you remain the constant pace to improve this game.

As much as we a like to see more and better - overall I still think they did a great job so far (still a lot to be fix).
Keep up the good work and stay on top onethumb.

I don't mind the grinding, what I do mind is the players in OW not coopperating unless it's is boss or quest.

Another problem is no one cares about the warden armor or meteoric armor anymore! I've seen stonevale bosses or other meteoric bosses untouched since update. We can't group up for those bosses too cause everyone think they ain't important anymore!
Just wait till they see that u need full warden to get dragonscale armor! Yes! From warden to meteoric to upgraded meteoric to dragonscale!
Just yet again I can see another player problem. Once they see that they need the full warden and meteoric squared, I'll bet all my gear that the lvl 130+ players that I have seen wondering around will be soloing the meteoric bosses just to get their dragonscale armor then what next? Try to reach lvl 160+ by camping the dragon at the end? Or quit playing till the next update?

THIS GAME AIN'T MEANT TO BE RUSHED SO YOU HIGH PLAYERS CAN COMPLAIN THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO DO!
It was meant to enjoy! Take things slow! Don't waste all 24 hours on this game then complain that the next update haven't arrived not soon enough. Don't make this game unpleasurable for the players who enjoy leveling at a pace and taking in the scenery!
I DON'T WANT TO SEE LVL 140+ RUNNING AROUND, TAKING OVER THE ARENA AND KILLING EVERYTHING IN STONEVALE FOR WARDEN AND METEORIC DROPS IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO!

Please Enjoy the game at a slower pace! Help those who in need of help as in to lvl or find certain drops and quests! This is an MMO after all! Not some SINGLE PLAYER MODE!

We need more quests. Grinding for exp is too boring. Before anyone says to stop being lazy, i would first like to remind you that this is still a game. Leveling isnt the point, its the fun of quests that still reward you with exp that makes it fun. Grinding to 150 for example is not the way to go...

Killing bosses is not a proper fun quest that can be done at any given time.

I did most of the main quest on an alternate character and leveled significantly faster than any other higher leveled quests. The exp reward isnt high enough to be worth doing for exp. I do however agree that its enough exp for the quest itself since you get items or access to items. This is why i think there should be more quests.
