Im also curious to hear how clans treat alt/mains - differently or the same - and if differently have you had problems of people lying about who logs the toons to game the system.
Mains only for main auction gear. Auction host clarifies which items have limited access.
Having 2+ players at Lvls for raid gear, I only gear my Druid. Warrior and rogue are not actively played and are never needed. They have the jalan/160 event/aggy gear that most members simply let go to bank after auctions. Then my lux ofc.

Duel loggers were an issue for double dkp on everything. We decided that only if they are proficient duel loggers, one isn't afk all the time, AND if they were a needed part of the boss, then they were awarded double dkp.
It is more of an honor thing, I've duel logged a warrior at hrungnir for an extra shield bash (he's also my camper,) but I simply Idoled, bashed, shattered, and died till next time, in this case, he was a huge help by interrupting self heals, but he was not actively played. No extra dkp for him. (He was out of group as well by design)

Another scenario was a sketchy 5 person (I was 2) snorri kill. My rogue had maxed expose which was a huge help with keeping bolas on him. And he was helpful at winning lock. My Druid and rogue were in constant activity whether debuffing boss or clearing adds, in this case, both characters earned points.

Dkp is the least flawed, with bidding style dkp the most flawed of dkp.

Avalons dkp system, every item has a set value whoever has the highest priority(decided by points gained and gear claimed, and if it is an upgrade) automatically wins it if they want it

Its horrible and complicated and also has decay... But it is more accurate and fair than any other system i have seen posted about

Do you have an issue with a large number of casual players who complain they cannot win the top tier drops in this case?

This really depends entirely on the clan culture. Avalon has a lot of alts, that's how we survive as a small clan, and most of our member dual/triple toons in a raid.
However, we don't give any of them special treatment, they don't earn double or triple points. Main characters always get loot priority over alts.
And this is where "Clan first, individuals last" principle come into play. When you have members who understand this, then your clan can go a long way.

Someone with more than 1 toon generally are more active anyway, after all. They attend more raids and earn more points, but for those active members with only one device, they're treated equally as someone with 2 or 3 or even 4, and our first objective is for everyone's main toons to have the best possible equipment they can get.

However, lately, we have change some of rules to give alts more loot eligibility over mains who aren't as active. We have instituted rules like if you have 30% or higher points than another main char, you may take an item for your alt. For Event items we distribute them via round-robin and alts are included and can pick an item before a main, depending on total earned points for a particular event.
Do you have an issue with a large number of casual players who complain they cannot win the top tier drops in this case?
I'm sure some do. But that's the whole point of a dkp system, if you're casual, don't expect the top tier drop, and if you want a top-tier drop then attend more raids.

Alts and mains just like any other toon, go by case by case. A person like Naruto2, has the 3 highest lvled toons on Belenus all in Elementals (Naruto2, Heal and Fireball), and Nar is somewhat his main, yet, he tri-logs and thus all 3 are kind of his mains, Fireball a bit less being a later toon. An alt dual-logged or tri-logged can be ahead of a main, but if both a main and someone else's alt are as active, the main gets priority, as the alt's main is as well geared (main+alt as active as a single main, both mains would be geared before the alt).
Nar mentioned a seniority on gens getting gear, I disagree, Nar is a clansman being the best geared ranger/druid, Im a warrior whom was best geared warrior before becoming a gen, our top 3 mages and mostly active mages are gens as is, only one ranger is gen and isnt best geared, I wouldnt say even 2nd best geared. All our tanks are gens with one being our chief, but we have a tank whos a clansman as well. Druid, one gen used to be a druid now is rogue, so best geared druids are all clansmen. And rogue is debatable whos best geared, there are a few whom are equally geared, only one of them being a gen.

How does it work? Again, it depends on the people. It works for us but it might not work for others, our chief before our current chief wasnt that fair but we have stood up to have our current chief. Greed, when a person whos geared enough in DKP can just decide to stop helping as much, here a trait of greed can be much faster noticed.
We are also strong on US times, all raids are done on US time, all of them are at 5:00 am for me, yet Im geared due attendance when I can and general attendance. There are ppl active at any times, theres posting times on Line app, ppl's work not being noticed is just as much as in DKP if someone is on solo and no one is there to see if he gets bosses or do they go to the rivals (talking about PHS mostly and getting times).

Our system is flawed, DKP is flawed, rolling is flawed, but each system works best for different ppl, different clans, different worlds. I dont feel any less or more motivated based on points, I might feel Im not as deserving for a drop as someone else even if points or gens would decide I am, for any reason, such as I know Im going inactive soon so I wont take this void helm before I go inactive, even if I can win by points (theoretically) or by vote.

@friddo, before whining 'dont attack me', go back to page 2 and see who quoted whom and started these personal stings.

@Plus3, we dont use points, we discuss case by case. Drama happens in any clan, but we rarely have it over drops. Besides, I rather vote and not have a case like a person (and I can name who, but naming and shaming) who has 3 or more gara sets (back then before skain sets), and owns so many drops based on dkp while they could be spread out better.

@Gabee. Im an 'officer' (irony), we call it banker or bank holder. Bankers dont last forever, Im one of the newest banker, holding the Hrung drops bank, having other ppl being bankers before I have. The part of seeing players' attendance is explained above, also I mentioned we have a rule, that is against bias (I will not give out a drop or vote when Im biased on the vote, especially not when Im part of it). Gens who want a drop arent always first in line, as mentioned, we have one ranger general, in the EDL weps line for rangers, Naruto2 (a clansman) was first in line, another ranger (guardian) was second, the gen ranger was third. How come? Because we do our best to not be biased.

I dont think that emotions or being personal is all bad, but unless Im really biased towards someone, I dont involve my feelings on that matter, and I try to not vote when Im myself inactive if Im not updated on the players myself. (EDIT: to avoid misunderstanding, when I am really biased towards someone, I dont vote / if its hrung drops I pass it to a vote and dont vote, I never vote on the votes I make, because if I create a vote and vote someone as well, I can affect someone's choice).

Another example for lack of bias, Im a general and a bank holder, but Im inactive due being busy. The divine dmg ring on 6th floor, I was one of the last ppl to get upgraded beyond lvl 1, and I dont expect any drop atm. Another example, I have the only void str halberd on Belenus, and I know I would like a royal-godly necral ring of eternal rest (vit dex spears), but I wont ask for one until at least one person gets one before me, because I will not hoard drops, and I dont care if I would seem more deserving. I have godly hrung dmg/hp brace, and royal dmg/attack, if a godly dmg/attack drops I wont ask to replace my royal and own both godly braces, I would replace my godly for godly, that way I get a godly and I return one so someone else gets (If I even get it), that way 2 ppl get geared in our system, while based on points by a small gap only 1 person could get geared with two godly items (if he got one a while before, and he collected points, he had 5000 and another person without godly brace had 4800 points, the one with 5000 would win and own 2 braces, I assume, and that doesnt benefit clan the most).

That epgp system is easily the fairest one ive come across, its no wonder ava are as successful as they are, kudos to you guys. Any other clans employ a similar system? I like the fact that it factors in (in)activeness without any human interaction using decay and prevents point hoarding, all of which the other systems mentioned here fail to prevent.

If all the elementals members accepts and agrees on every outcome of the leaders/bankers/officers voting, then Elementals developed a perfect gear distribution system for their clan.

I also proposed epgp to my clan, tho the concept is fair for everybody, it was rejected by my leaders due to its complexity.

Voting system is biased against non-americans, which is pretty unfair imo. Also, crim, Having played on belenus for almost 3 years, I'm reasonably sure there is a fair amount of ass-kissing in elementals. Deny it all you want, but it's easier to see when you're a spectator ;)
