Being a route player I always thought I could out damage any class of my level area, recently though it seems I'm starting to question if mages are better DPS material. Since I'm not that far in to the game yet, being that I just entered stonevale not that long ago, I want to know, which is ultimately better for DPS mage or rouge?

Rogues. In time you will vastly outdps mages. In the begining, mages do have two strong burst skills (some take on more) and will win on fights. I've always found mages to be Overpowered in the early game. But as rogues reach 100 and higher, rogues do much more damage.

This is more of an equipment and stats question.

lvls 1-99 a rogue (pure dmg from str/some dexterity) and a Mage (pure focus)
Assuming same level of gear. Mages win majority of the time in Dps battles.

After 100 and especially 150+ rogues start to shine.


Rogues are the DPS class.
If you are looking for best damage, stick with rogue

Rogue for overall ability and Mage if you want to have fun and are willing to pay extra.

Mages become great dps once they enter tower while they're below rogues compared to non event raids.

Early game it depends on how well geared you are.

End game it depends if the boss can take divine damage or not.

For leveling, it depends on the level, and what lux you have. Comparing equally geared mages and rogues I'd say mages are better 1-49, and 180+. The reason for the low lv is because we do elemental damage, which most mobs that lv barely resist. The reason for high lv is because we mages have lure, the rogues don't have an equivalent to that. Someone with ''less dps'' fighting a enemy with 0 resist is going to beat someone who's fighting with more dps fighting a enemy with 1000 armor/resist.

Well rogues are definately better in terms of raid bosses(with chaos aura), but almost half of the CH community is rogue, gearing your rogue will take longer than any other class
