My father introduced us kids to the joys of Tolkien at the young age of 6. We had family reading every night where we (3 sisters, 1 brother) would all gather up and dad would read one or two chapters a night. Started with The Hobbit and eventually read the entire series. Since then, those are my most re-read books, having read the trilogy 10-15 times. The Silmarillion is also a great book!
I am currently reading the Codex of Alera series by Jim Butcher. It's not bad, but not my favorite. However, once starting a series of books, I am compelled to finish it!!
The Malazan Book of The Fallen series (10 books) was excellent.
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time will hopefully be remembered as an epic classic.
Brian Sanderson's Stormlight series is off to a good start (2 books released so far).
Wool by Hugh Howey
Lamb ( The Gospel According to Biff) by Christopher Moore
Most of Neal Stephensen's books.
The Chronicles of Amber series by Roger Zelazny
Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury
Most of Stephen King's books
Me Talk Pretty One Day and Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris
The Shepherd of the Hills by Harold Bell Wright
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry (don't remember author)
Those are just a few!! I'll read anything
