So how do you explain why I can't cast another skill during the animation, even if what you said is true it should be fixed so it doesn't appear the animation is stopping autos or delaying another skill, instacast should damage the mob immediately upon casting, this is essential for lock battles, delayed damage means I can't lock a boss when I should have already. Thanks for taking the time to test though, I'm sure a lot of us appreciate it.

How about we have a tick box in options to turn off skill animations on our own character so my instacast sharpshot actually instadamages what I'm casting it on and letting me cast another skill immediately after pressing sharp shot instead of waiting for the animation to finish, would this be possible?

Animation may not delay autos if it's all server based but it definitely prevents you from moving/casting another skill.

Just like gele weapon skill sucks, the animation takes 3+ seconds and you can't cast another skill until it completes.

If you have multiple instacast skills you will be able to chain them, you will be unable to move during these animations but the skills will still go through (Might be a second delay as the server queues up actions).

If we were to fix it so that skills did not appear to be delaying autos there would be some weird animation issues. You could be partially through one and snap to half of another as there is no blending currently.

Instacast does damage the mob upon casting, the animation may be playing out but the server does not see the animation so your damage will go through just the same.

The feedback regarding movement is valid but as all skills / autos lock you in place that is more a discussion on a much bigger topic regarding attacks and movement.

I have noticed a difference in the animation delay depending on which way you que up ss.
Try this both ways while autoing.
SharpShot, DoubleShot
And then try
DoubleShot, SharpShot

The second que order cuts sharpshots animation short as your still coming out of DoubleShot.
You still see the sharpshot arrow effect followed a split second after by you auto arrow.
And the damage values are all there if you que double, sharp. But not if you que sharp, double.
Dunno what that means but its interesting.

Id much rather that sharp did a animation that was like a double speed auto (550 speed) like it looks when qued doubleshot then sharpshot

While that does look stupid, it's a bit different for DaS3 as the lack of animations actually makes it nearly impossible to play. The strategy in that game comes from you finding a good opportunity to perform your next action. Knowing when to block, dodge, parry, or attack is crucial and you can't know that without animations. Animations on Ch are just there to make the game look proper.

I understand you though, the game would just look ridiculous if we cut animations altogether. Perhaps if they were played for the duration of the cast rather than after being cast, and were sped up/slowed down to match?

I think the problem is that major people believe that every millisecond counts in every situation, and feel like these miniscule delays are preventing them from successfully winning lock battles or getting kills. This is supported by the fact people hotbar slot everything they can to swap their gear before casts.

The best part is that everyone experiences the same delay, so if you're being outlocked by another group, animations aren't your problem, it's your gear/build as a collective.
