Re: State of the Game: 2+ Weeks after the Update.

I realize I am dredging up a post that is a couple of weeks old, but it brings up some good points...

1). The game has become grinding to get new armour and weapons...
after I finished the stonevale quest, every quest since has been about armour...
The wardens
Meteoric/astral/zodiac... You get the idea
Crystals - for shop to buy weps and armour
Retaking faeriland - for a neat wep
Diamonds - for a shop to buy weps and
The new warriors... I can upgrade my already upgraded warden
So I can fight the dragon to get new armour....
I dont know what the Test awards.

(forgive me if I mixed up a few - haven't finished em all)

Ppl who are wearing diamond because they hadn't gotten astral, are never going to wear the astral... They are going to get the upgrade items they need, and at the same time hog red bosses to earn get astral simply so they can immediately get the second upgrade.

It seems to me that we could use some other goals, too. To slow us down a bit, and give us something to do with this awesome armour, before we move on to the next.

2) the other issue is the new abilities. I am actually a fan of these. It think it adds a nice element of chance to the game. For example, shiver's multi skill hits that were near impossible to keep a tank alive through. If even one missed, it might change the fights back to a Druid/tank/dps team, over the dps/idol team it turned into.

The problem with them, is that they are sooo slow to level on high level characters. I believe it is supposed to be random chance, but low level characters are gaining these numbers faster than those of us grinding in OW. With abilities we have been working on for months (and only need to gain 10 per level) this makes sense, but it is giving ppl who started the new abils at a high level a huge disadvantage over the people who started the game more recently.

I feel the main prob was the new skills which were esential for mages and Druids were made virtually unobtainable this was patched but but for many players these skills r still out of reach I'm still yet to obtain area fireball which I know is a rare drop but for leveling these extra damage skills were almost a necessity and it has ruined the morale among mages and Druids I know in my clan 5 Druids have quit game and 2 mages I've quit the clan as nobody seems to be on anymore and I have a couple of busy weeks ahead of me
Add to this the stat changes that have had to be made to focus and vit points for the caster classes it kind of made life really very hard quite simply because of extremely poor survival rates
On the plus side pvp works great and I can level at incredible speeds if I can find a partner to train with
On the downside there still isn't much in the way of quests if your between 80-100 other than retaking fairyland the ice armour is pretty much dependent on level I'm kind of hoping that the upcoming event will give me a break from grinding levels
Some bosses r way to hard like woodcrown and cassis blackstone I'm sure everyone would like to try out some obsidion weps but there just not worth the effort for what is basically a tempary wep I have a pile of fairy weps allready waiting for when I level up some more so trying to take down cassis is just too much hardwork for a reward which is basically same as what I allready have
Players between 80-100 r prob the ones having the hardest time of it as they r too high to level quickly in stonevale and to low to kill eyes at a reasonable speed I'm level 100 and eyes r still the bane of my life when travelling about And yes I have a camo aswell
My kids love the update they have chars from 30-60
What I think update needs is repeatable quests aimed at 80-100 mark such as clearing the entrance of eyes so they get xp boost from actually killing the things instead of running past to trees and kelpies
Another thing I think needs addressing is res idols no longer filling mana bar which I'd basically a double or triple kill for Mage and Druid as they don't have the armour or hp to get out of area attacks and don't have the mana to save themself after they res

My biggest complaint is bad drop luck. I camped falgren for a month and never got a dragon. I have been in the other world since the first day and had to be given a red cover to complete that quest. Have not received any of the other new skills. So I level, I hope to get stuff but have no confidence I ever will. I raise money and upgrade my equipment. Three more pieces of armor to go and I will have all my diamond. Don't care about orbs because i still need 4 dragons so whats the point. Wont even go into rems and tabs.

So either I just happen to have the worst drop luck on all the worlds or the entire drop scheme does not match the player population.

Second biggest complaint. The attempt to balance the classes using PVP as the norm. Everyone seems upset. Classes are different. They have different missions. There is nothing you can do to balance rock, paper scissors. The rock will always beat the scissors and lose to the paper, etc. All of the problems with energy and skills and armor are related to this one issue.

Third complaint. kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, yawn kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, zzzzzz get booted off wake up kill, kill, kill, kill, kill. How about a story line? Send us on a mission for Lord lir to a neighboring country and have us get thrown in jail because our oratory skill stinks, and have our clan have to bail us out. Or we succeed because our seduction worked. Or make us cross a ravine that requires a levitation spell or a climbing skill or swimming. Then have us build the bridge and test it so it doesn't fall apart and have to start over because our craft or building skill failed. MAKE US THINK. {What is your name? What is your Quest, What is the airspeed of a coconut laden swallow?}

Yes, I noticed that the Idols don't refill Energy, but was unsure that there was a change in the update on this. I helped get an Obsidian Bow last night, the rangers said they plan to change it out with their Diamond ones during a fight, depending on what skill becomes available after cooldown.

Our current problem is lack of Platinum until July 4th. No one is buying Plat and the 4th is so far out, but I digress.

More and challenging quests in OW with fat Exp bonuses is whats called for. Our clan in Sulis took out Lava Lord at least once now, so the bosses are still a challenge. But fire damage on my Frozen armor (nonsensical) and added Energy instead of Focus really needs fixing too. The Mage frozen armor blows.

I play but have given up
I need 2 drags killed falgren 10+ times not drags droped
I want to level but it's impossible without a Druid (no Druids in clan my lvl)
All I do is kill shiver and talk (don't get me started about the uneven drop rate)
This is my 1 hour of playing
-check shiver and guzzle/arti/queen
-kill 2mobs
Heal fully
-kill 2mobs
Heal fully
-get pissed off because I seem to be the slowest leveler ever
-talk

Admin seems to not be listening to the players anymore, which is what made the game special in the first place.

I use XP pots, so I haven't noticed how bad the grind is, but i'm sure if I stopped it would be unbearable. The game doesn't need to get a LOT easier, but a few tweaks would help out a lot. Perhaps giving more XP for fighting HIGHER level enemies up to 5 levels higher. Right now you can kill an enemy 20 levels higher and you get about the same XP as an enemy the SAME level. I understand this is put in to prevent power leveling but cmon... increasing xp for a few levels higher is standard. The more i'm playing lately the more I wonder if any devs have ever worked on or even played an MMO before.

XP pots have become absolutely necessary to level, and I don't mind buying them if i'm having fun, but this has gotten to be pretty bad. I understand devs need money but if they try to squeeze it out like this people will just get burnt out and move on to the next thing where the same amount of real world cash gets them tons more.

Also, Warriors are their biggest customer and they are making upgrade items class specific so their biggest base is going to be alienated just like with Meteor and the rarity of Red Space. MOST WARRIORS STILL DONT HAVE METEOR CHEST. How much thought does it really take to address this obvious issue?

At the end of the day, the only thing keeping Celtic Heroes alive is that it is the ONLY game truly of its kind. There will be other iStore F2P MMOs that come out in the near future that actually get things right and the CH audience will slowly migrate there. It is unfortunate to see a game we love go down the toilet like this but the devs refuse to address the most obvious issues and that will be their downfall.
