Fed up with playing a higher level mage

#1
I think the skills and stats of the different classes are distributed quite unfairly. I'm a lvl 98 mage and mostly go in team with my clan mate (a lvl 68 warrior). We both followed the hints in this forum for leveling - that is as a mage level only focus/vitality 3:2 and as a warrior strength/dexterity 3:2. My clan mate can easily slay Monsters 10 to 15 Levels above her and I die when I try to fight a 3-star spider in Carrowmore 5 Levels below me. I have upgraded fire spells to the utmost (that is possible for me at this Level - 25 including fire attunement skill). But still every second attack the monsters shrug off my fireball and get no damage. So I need approx. 3 to 4 attacks for a mere Spider and after the fight my health is reduced to near death, so I have to wait until I'm able to continue. In this time the monsters respawn and I can not advance at all.
I'm really fed up with playing a mage in this game. It was ok half a year ago. Back than it was possible for me to clear whole areas on my own without the help of my clan mates (I don't speak of boss monsters of course). But nowadays the damage of mage skills is reduced so much that I'm at a point of abandoning the game completely.

Please do something with the balancing of the individual skills so that a mage can again be a competitive class to play!!!!

It's not all that bad. I'd recommend buying a few alt books/reb books and tweak your build till you find the right balance. At your lvl you don't necessarily have to focus on buying lux aside from maybe the lvl 100 offhand seer from carrow for the bonus focus it gives. More focus means more damage each time you cast a skill. I can only speak from my experience but around lvl 100 I went with max fire attune, maxed energy shield (so I could take more points from vit and put into focus) maxed firebolt, and firestorm then the rest into fire lure. Relied a lot on skill rings too for attune and 1 damage skill (firestorm). Mages are somewhat mushy when it comes to taking damage so best to avoid by Leveling like you do with a Warr to take most the damage. Don't get to hung up on who is getting the kill either. Doesn't really matter in the end haha. Also you won't stick your the same build you have now till endgame. You got to switch points around from time to time to adapt to what the enemy is throwing at you.

Mages are actually a good class. The main thing if any that needs to be balanced is that fire is now a lot better then ice because fire got insta firebolt back and the ice side got nothing in return.

All classes can be played effectively, providing you have the knowledge and resources.

So onto the topic. You are fire that's good. The 3:2 ratio is ok, but personally I prefer to be a glasscannon, as mages are squishy anyway. In my eyes the best defense is a good offense, if you do more damage you take less damage because you end the fight faster, while getting more xp per lix as a side-effect, and restos will heal more % of your max hp(if you use them). You will die as a mage if you aren't tactical about your build and movement. You can use the warrior as a tank, or search for more dps set teammates. Going solo is also an opinion, which is what I did, if you do though I highly recommend e shield. As for skills, never ever stop at the cap(unless its lure and you aren't support). Always always always overlevel damage skills with gear, staring with firebolt. Buy royal and/or grand firebolt firestorm or fire attune rings(in order of importance). Theres also the silverweb firebolt rings which are more op but cost more, and then aggy firebolt/firestorm rings which add +6-10 pts but will cost a ton. Also at 100 get the focus of the seer, and maybe the 70 focus crown if you want a little bit more damage on top. Onto missing spells... Fire magic is like a mages attack stat, it determines your chance to hit(and to a lesser extent adds damage which is important). Make sure you max it out, but overmaxing it isn't too important til lvl 180ish(if you find good gear though by all means use it). Remember even if you cant help the build, if you run back a little when you have no spells left to cast it still reduces your damage taken because the enemy has to reach you again(don't run too far).

Hope this helps(and sorry if its a little disorganized its late here).
