Re: Use Weapons and Armour in Fashion Slots.

That's because the item database structure doesn't work this way. A weapon can't be both a mainhand and a fashion item. Same with any armor piece, each item can only go to one slot, say, either the armor.head slot or the fashion head slot.
FWIW, this could be accomplished with a little check-box on the item (like the favorite check box) to designate it as fashion. There would be some other semantics to work through, but the concept seems workable.
Oh for sure, anything can be done. This is simply database structure that can be changed, and if done correctly, with object oriented programming, adding additional properties and methods to an object class would also be trivial. The real question is, is it worth going through this change? If I was in OTM's shoes, my answer would be no. There are more important things to do.

And besides, OTM went with the direction of fashion tokens to buy fashion. Making every available armor in game a piece of fashion means introducing hundreds of thousands of new fashion without anyone spending for tokens. That is counter-intuitive to the business interest.
Not listening to players is good for business?

Maybe if they added Cosmetic Tokens? like in Runescape. Then they could still earn money from improving the game, I doubt players will spit on them for giving freedom when customizing their character.

My Pict charm needs updated :( Pray for me.
Hoping for the day when the glitchy Pict and Jotun charms are updated. :D

It depends on the player suggestions. There are many things that OTM should do, or should have done earlier to keep players playing.

But suggestions like these and also the other one that reduces the need to use alt books and rebirth books, aren't going to be implemented because it would reduce potential sales of tokens (via chests) and books.

Although I am one of the proponents to have a skill system revamp because the current one just doesn't cut it. It makes adding new skills pointless and players gravitate towards cookie-cutter builds. Though that might reduce alt book usage, I think overall, the change would be beneficial to the game, especially for future skills and enhancements. But that is for another topic, and not here.

I'm not opposed to adding more features that cost plat, as long as it doesn't affect combat/battle mechanics. I'd support things such as armor dyes, for example, or more mount decorations, etc.

So you should be ok with items being used cosmetically then?
I don't think you understood what I'm saying. You're trying to make me sound like I'm contradicting what I said because I don't support armor being made into fashion items automatically. What I said was I'm fine adding more items that cost plat, like your cosmetic token example, whatever that is. Many players have also suggested armor dyes so they can change the color of their armor. I'd like my warrior EDL to be black rather than red and blue. If I have to buy dyes that cost 5p each, that would be okay to be added in game.

I don't think you understand what I am saying either.. the items would simply be used for their cosmetics. You put a DL Chest into you fash slot and your chest looks like DL, etc.

Perhaps you should look up how it is done on RS? Then perhaps you will understand what I mean. Items can be used solely for their appearance once they are no longer useful and can still be used as armour, weapons etc if removed from the slot.

Normally it costs a token to add it as a cosmetic item and another to remove it, seems to be very popular there and in other mmo's, so i honestly cant see the problem if it is implemented. Like you said it just requires some reprogramming. Rather than creating entirely new content like dyes etc.

Read the entire thread. Already said (and Muldar confirmed), that the current database structure doesn't allow an item to be both armor and fashion. Yes they can change it, it's not impossible. Other MMOs have done it. But it's not something OTM would do because:

1) It's not worth the time changing the base database structure to support multi-slots for items
2) doing this means more fashion available without players spending a penny

I already explained how it could be made viable, you even mentioned that you would agree to such things as Cosmetic Tokens. It seems more that the idea is not to your personal liking as you want Dyes implemented, which require entire retextures of items rather than some reprogramming of those that currently exist.
