When your Bash fails to stop the shield from triggering, are you pre-empting the skill cast before you see the notification message (i.e. start casting bash in anticipation of the notification so it looks like it takes effect just after seeing the message), or waiting for the notification message before you start casting?
We wait for the notification before casting Shield Bash.
Are you stacking/refreshing the bash at any point?
I would assume warriors with similar Shield Bash skill (42), would land their bashes within seconds of each other just after the notification message, and won't get a "Your shield bash is resisted" message. So there would possibly be some stacking involved if more than one bash lands. Sometimes there would be a warrior with higher Shield Bash so all other warriors get resisted if the higher shield bash lands first.
Have any of these occurrences been the result of failed bash casts?
No. It's quite obvious if he shields because all the shield bash got avoided. But when we see "Inflicted Shield Bash on Gelebron" message, which means it successfully landed (and it's done at the appropriate time, just after the notification message), and he still shields, we know someone had bashed just before the notification message. We pretty much know if he shields because of a failed cast or due to the bug.
On the off chance, does anyone in the clan have any recordings of fights where you've encountered this issue?
Unfortunately not.
The most common scenario when the bug happens to us is when there's another orange message that shows up like "Gelebron summons his servants" or "A fire crystal begins charging" just seconds before the "Gelebron prepares his barrier" message. A warrior sees an orange message, accidentally casts shield bash, and successfully lands it, then Gelebron is frozen for 5 seconds, then we see the "Gelebron prepares his barrier", and other warriors cast shield bash, and even if any of those shield bash lands, Gelebron will still shield.
