Is the auction house destroying the game?

#1
I'm playing this game for nearly a year now. I have spent a lot of time, had fun and invested even a little bit of real money on platinum.
It was fun at the beginning and became significantly more difficult and even annoying to play when my main char (a fire mage, now Level 110) developed (I complained about fire mages earlier in this forum, but I'm not sure if the developers of the game even read here, not to mention do something on behalf of complaints).
I accepted the game principle that you have to find other players if you want to tackle a difficult foe/boss. That worked o.k. as long as my char had tasks in Shalemount. When I advanced to Stonevale, things changed, Even with the help of 3 or 4 friends I was not able to kill any of the bosses there. A mere 5-star-boss (Level 72) is so strong that 3 or 4 level 70 heroes are not able to get him down.
Therefore I skipped most of the Stonevale-tasks and proceeded to the Otherworld, the Murky vaults and Carrowmore tunnels.

In the mean time the update came with the auction house. At first I thought "Good idea! I can now buy stuff to finish tasks if they are to difficult for me."
But I also noticed that the game changed significantly. Hordes of very high-level players now swarm the Stonevale and Otherworld planes. They farm there for valuable items like the elm discs or dragon discs. The spawn rate of the Stonevale bosses is really slow. You rarely see one of the bosses. And when you find one there sure is a very high level player fighting it and not giving lower level players a chance to join in the fight. Instead these high level players place the gained special items in the auction house for unbelievably high prices.
At the same time, the drop rate for all the special items is significantly reduced. I spent a week long holiday during easter time killing eyes in the Otherworld, but the required scroll for Mathulus page 5 never dropped and it is never for sale in the action house either.
In my eyes there is something completely wrong with the game now. The drop rate of special items should be corrected so that all players have a chance to get them.
In addition the auction house should be closed. Otherwise the farming will continue and this will change the character of the game.

But I would place a bet that no programm developer will read my complaint and change will never come. So sad ...

No, ah is not ruining game, it saved the economy. You're not meant to kill a level 70 boss with 3 or 4 below mildly geared level 70s, the boss you're talking about was once endgame content people spent months working towards. Want gear? Join a clan. A nice one. Or create one. Get druids, tanks, dps, everything, and set up timers so you know when bosses spawn. When you complete all that the game becomes staggeringly easy for a long time. Some of my best days in game were staying below 120 and just having a blast with 50 or so of my friends as we treated warden and meteoric bosses like endgame, with full support druids and tanks and full lure mages, everything you could imagine. A boss up hat you can't kill? Call help. Majority of 150+ can solo them all at this point. My mage (155) can easily solo all of the bosses in stonevale.
But sure it's a "high" level in your eyes. But I promise you you will have loads and loads of fun if you just find some of your friends, create a clan, and have some go bossing builds such as tank and full heal Druid. I will get hate for saying that, "no! Tell them to join a big clan and do big bosses! They can just take those bosses down easily with high level help!". But this is the much more fun version. And OTM is actually WAYYYYYYY more involved with the community than ever. They usually leave character/build advice threads to the community though, to improve community involvement or something

Typing that out actually made me nostalgic lmao

AH didn't save the economy. There wasn't anything wrong with the economies. It's made it to where you can sell things without shouting in castle
Idk about your server but it saved Arawn economy. Only think sold pre ah was plat items. Now old lux and items (lots of 2013 event armor and such) is coming back. I haven't seen silver web charms for sale in almost a year before ah came about.

I'm on Lir. But I'm quite astonished about Loco colas post. Are we playing the same game? I wonder because there are hardly ever 50 people at the same time in one area and when there are more than 20 or 30 in one area the game starts lagging heavily. I have difficulties imagining a horde of 50 players all fighting one boss. If that is the only way to proceed and get tasks done, then I'm finished with this game. I'm in a small clan. I like the people there. We share stuff and help each other. But no one would like to stay hours in one area and just wait there for a boss to spawn. What an odd and slighty stupid way to play this game. Why should anyone want to spent time on waiting? In my opinion all RPG games should have active tasks for the players of all levels that one can tackle (alone for ambitious players or in a small group for relaxed and community players).
You tell me that with level 150 I will be able to tackle all bosses in Stonevale. Fine. But what shall I do until I'm level 150? It's quite boring just to kill endless pirates in Fingals cave and smugglers in the Murky vaults. If I don't get tasks done, the game looses all it's fascination. This is not role playing for me.

Warden bosses have a few minutes spawn time. And I never said warden bosses require 50 people. We can easily do them with a tank, a druid, and 2 dps.

After 150 you start your dragonlord boss camping and timing for your dl armor. Then your edl. And if you want raid gear off aggy, mord, necro, got might be camping for days. Essentially this is the game
Zyz 220 Druid
Noah Fences 220 Rogue
