Re: Are the OTM devs aware of "locker toons"

#11
Through PM's back and forth with OTM what has been said is that target lock is not changing at all so I guess we are going to have to deal with it for now. However, something that was also said was that they are working on more 'level appropriate' content for higher players but there is no scheduled release date. So long as they are actually working towards resolving the issue I can bare with scrawny 10% lock battles for now.

I dont think they care... More people making more accounts is very beneficial for them.

Doubt any changes will come to address target lock and its effects.

The down side of locker toons is the strongest clan can and often does monopolize the server.. I have seen numerous ppl quit the game due to a monopoly by one clan on a server.. chests are mainly bought by high lvls.. when u can't reach a high lvl due to gear. Frustration becomes the norm. You either join the winning clan or stay at ur present gear lvl... yes there is quest gear and lux but for obvious reasons boss gear is best.. many mmos have clan member limits.. I'm sure this will never be implemented but a way to balance servers for enjoyable game play for all needs to be considered... If the players are able to log on..

Yes, we are aware of locking toons.

While locker toons are not a perfect solution, we are impressed by players dedication and resourcefulness.

This is an aspect of the game we continue to review.
It definitely benefits OTM if more toons get created but I don't think it's right designing the game to force players make multiple toons just so they can kill low level bosses they need drops from.
Any plans to help locker toons acquire pets and mounts without leveling from bounty boards and not spending cash? They need the "free option".

What's also ironic is you aget xp (sometimes wise xp) on the bosses you kill, also forcing the locker toon to eventually level.

What kind of a game is it where a low level hero beats a high level hero every single time? Why do you think it's an aspect of the game that should continue?

I think you mistake a player's resourcefulness given that they don't have any choice but to make a lower level toon from something they need to kill. It's called "either quit the game or make a locker toon".

This "toon locker syndrome" started when you needed a Alt to the ever increasing (now ridiculous) amounts of players at end game bosses.
Alt turned into Alts.
Where do you personally draw the line?
game needs to go back before this timeline of Celtic heroes path to find the best answer

Otm are not to blame in hindsight. You followed that path they laid. You all knew the more players you get more dominant you are on every update..you actually expanded the idea for OTM.
And here we are with these dire set of consequences as it stands.

How did you not see this coming?
So In reality has this "game mode" made your gameplay more enjoyable from where it was prior to level lock? judging by the post. No.
But then you gotta accept backtracking and that means changing thoughts on dominance. And rather be for better gameplay. Can you accept that?

less is more theory... Quality over quantity....etc etc.
so there is your answer, but I'm with you on it needs total revamp ASAP.

But because of this 10 lvls rule low lvls clans have a chance to get their gear.. you cant expect OTM to change the lock system to the group who deals more dmg because then the endgame clans who have gele gear will lock every boss and low lvls clans won't have a chance to get drops and gear

you shouldn't have to fight with dominant clan alts...they shouldn't be there in the first place.

You should be fighting with new clans new guys. Not old timer veterans with "sister clan tag" over and over again.
and just to add to this..old veterans of dominant clans have all the old best gear required for that level pass me downs...your chances are diminished already before you press a button.
see how the gameplay is broken?
What a sad state of affairs.
Read my above post that explains all bud.

Oh and, a dominant clan became one through hard work. No one started as dominant. This penalize to dominant clans for becoming dominant for years they invested and devoted themselves to the game is laughable. Im in dominant clan that exists from 2012, staying dominant all the way to 2017 with all the struggles was a ***. If u think its easy and therefore we should be penalized ur wrong.

Anyway, this is the first game Ive ever decided I DONT wanna lvl, because I'll be penalizied even further, because Im lvl 226 warrior whos unfathomable at locking and I dont have time to lvl my alts (even if I have resources) and I just hate lvling because if I'll be even worse at bosses like 215 edl (whom Im already losing from my locking ability on).

As said, where do u draw the line? Why do ppl need to make more alts only to keep them at lvl 190? Yes, u may think its only helpful, but it has a drawback too, one of the reasons Im not making any alts (and I can quad log, so thats 3 toons I could invest on) is because I dont want to suffer through these bottlenecks and force myself to stay a low lvl. I dont want a mage cus I cant afford all the sigils, I dont want a rogue cus I dont want to compete with the dozens of rogues and struggle to complete dl/edl set (helms seem to be the issue), nor do I lvl a druid due how harder it is to lvl one compared to others (thats why even if I can quad log I wont lvl more than a ranger).

Overall, every bottleneck and disadvantage u created may help u earn money, but thats cus u dont compare it to cases like mine and many others' who dont want to go through all of that.

I wouldn't call it ridiculous just yet but there are certainly a lot of players competing for a limited supply, hence orbs quadrupling in price since auction.

What will OTM do if they are successful and draw more players in? Just leave them to rage quit after a reaching frozen in a month or two of play?

Didn't know people can be forced in a game?
I have a lock toon I play it because I enjoy it and not because anyone is forcing me, I could do what I want really, can even quit, leave clan or change server, but I work for the people I love in a way that makes me comfortable, run lock toon also to make the clan stronger, I don't see any wrong in that, if you wanna compete the dominant clan then go ahead and struggle, but no one is forcing you to struggle, you choose to your own.
I find no point in this useless argument based on nothing that makes sense.
