Ok so I have some warden and am going to buy diamond to fill in holes like breastplate and weapon first, then might replace my warden with diamond.

My question is this:

should I eventually use diamond helm or warmage helm? Does warmage helm just increase te damage of every spell by 20, or is it effected by focus? Or for DOT does it effect damage per tick?

Also can someone weigh pro's and cons of heroic boots vs diamond boots for a mage?

I personally love the Diamond gear. I use a full set of Diamond, save boots. I believe speed of movement to be of greater use than a couple extra focus. I have frozen armor now too, three pieces. But the frozen's extra energy is not nearly as useful compared to all the extra focus I get from Diamond.

Yes, Extra Focus should help Cloak and Incinerates dmg too.

Thanks a bunch, but how about the +20 damage on the warmage helm? Has anyone tested out to see how much damage that adds to firebolt and incinerate compared to diamond helm?

I have that Mage Lux horned helm, and am pretty sure it only adds to wand attacks (normal attacks). I just did a experiment on a mob in Shale using Cloak of Fire, and it did one point more using the helm of Warmagic. It's a joke. I rarely ever wand attack. I'm always casting something. I use Diamond hat.

Edit: I may need to try this hat with Cloak and a magic lure. I'll get back to you.

Yea,
I casted cloak with my metoric helm, put up energy shield, then recasted it with the Warmage helm to the same mob. I did not, however, use magic lure which I do have. I'll retest it tonight and report.

I just cannot figure it out. I am really unhappy with this stupid helm. I don't see any noticeable damage from it, more than about one point per tick with Cloak, even with Lure of Magic (which is at 1 but based on a good Ability). Come to Sulis and I'll make you a great deal on it.
