On mages and energy issues

#1
Hi all,

I know celebration is coming soon and it is really exciting ;) but in this topic I wanted to talk about energy issues for mages and druids.
I was waiting long enough hoping that otm resolves this somehow, but i am tired of being constatnty without energy  (and this with energy sigils).
I cast one time ice sharads and it takes 1/6 of my energy in the bar (though i have more focus than health).
I feel its kind of unfair that rogues and rangers skill were repatched in a positive direction and mages have to buy energy pots for plat.
I really like new skill "sacrifice", in its original version, we could sacrifice less health for more mana, which actually has sense, but now its more health for less energy., what made me to go for other skill instead.
Or to make it fair for mages too, pls free to add us more melee damage

I hope people that are mainly skill casters will support me on that and hope that otm will make some improvements.

Thank you in advance.

And have fun during celebration time

I agree Mages are useless without energy and we go through it very quickly. An overall decrease in casting cost or an increase in energy regen would be helpful.

Meditate and energy boost yes, but not sacrifice yet. My skill points are allocated 10/20 meditate and 10/20 energy boost. It seems like other classes roughly same lvl no lux items for regen can recover much quicker between mobs. I would like to avoid putting more skill points towards energy regen, but will probably have to to keep up. Thanks for responding so quickly admin :D

Welcome to forums.

1/6 of yer energy bar?

I would really really suggest not maxing out your ice shards skill. Look at the energy cost of 20/25 and then 25/25 it's extreme for only a measured change in DMG. I'm not saying how you should spec yer toon, but I would float around 19/25 and then use rings to supplement what you want to do. Might help stop your hemorrhaging energy.

Now... If you are using this, and are still getting wrecked in energy, that sucks. I'm not disagreeing with your entire post, I think energy management is still an issue without a doubt, but new regen items (rings/bracelets) coming into the game might help stem the tide...we will need to keep vigilant.

@ admin
Yes I tried all of that and its not helping, not very useful in long battles when u need to attack. I like sacrifice but u have to change it to the original discription of the skill (less health for more energy).

Thanks

Sorry i just dont understand why only characters which specialize in casting skills should expirience this problem, thats kind of unfair, dont u think? Then as I already said I would like to have more melee damage, to adjust it for all classes.

A couple ideas were mentioned here.

Without energy we are useless because our auto does nothing. Admin has stated that once a new combat engine is implemented then focus will effect wand damage and we will actually have a stick instead of a toothpick. But that may take a long time to implement. in the mean time can we PLEASE have fire cloak do damage when we attack. It will help us be able to do something when we are dry.

I have 30 regen with lux items
I have Meditate at 25 which gives 47 E
I just got sacrifice which is at 1 and only gives 18 E for 15 health. Wow that was disappointing. I was expecting 50 for 10.
Energy boost at 4 with a plus 4 ring but I don't think the ring is actually helping. The skills page does not report any extra heal with the ring and I am not noticing any significant difference. But that may be because a few points difference wont make much of a dent when I already have 88 per tick. not counting sacrifice (I havn't timed its recharge so I am not including it)

Lets just assume I am getting a little from the ring and I have a 90 regen. That is only 1080 points per minute. So I am doing nothing for 3 min after a good fight. Well that is not entirely true I get to watch other toons clear my training area of mobs. And I have 30% of my skill points in energy regen!

Oh boy yes, a very big problem. I have two energy regen lux items and energy sigils and I still run out of energy in big/long/continuous fights. I am so frustrated with this that I am just working on levelling my tank as it is more fun to play with now. My damage is too low without skills, my skills must be upgraded to max in order to do sufficient damage to big guys, I have to have sufficient points allocated to Health, Dex, and STR to survive long enough and hit my target, so everything has been maximised already. Everything else has been tried. The energy cost of using skills means that mages has to fight one small enemy at a time, then recharge - which hardly makes it worth the effort, and make it nearly impossible to level in a decent amount of time. Yes, we can use elixers etc to level, but when I look at hours spent training vs friends who are higher levels (when a few weeks ago we were just two levels apart) This just seems a little off. I fight in OW with friends and they are hitting big time skills continuously with zero energy regen items and I am regen, meditate, energy boost the entire time. It's nuts. So yeah, Captain'sTank is the future it seems.
