Do people really believe that the rarity of an item is based off its name, and not its looks/functions? I strongly disagree bringing old stuff back. This game needs to move forward, not back.

I don't this discussion is to replace new items, but rather, some players do enjoy older items and like having a chance at them. The question is more how and when do you give them that chance; moreover, how do to so without devaluing your existing/loyal players?

I think the answer is to create new rare items. This currently doesn’t happen with the token system. Items never retain any value and only diminish with time.

Even boss loot isn’t time exclusive anymore - not that I mind that.

Honestly the token system needs to be re-examined.

I don't know how practical this would be but it would be good if the recently dropped items would indicate the year they were dropped while also stating the original year of introduction of the item within the description. For example: If I killed the Fire Titan and got gloves as a drop, the gloves description would state something along the lines of, "Darkflame Gloves 2017*...First introduced in 2011...".(Just using random dates and description for purpose of illustration). This way, the original drops would retain their values and authenticity for collectors who have sets of the original while allowing new players to get those old items.

This is kind of what the original solution was getting at; an indicator of sorts, so to speak. That could be a simple name change adding the year or changing the color. There are a number of solutions to serve this purpose.

I feel we should accept whats done is done. I don’t know how serious you’re taking this post or if it will result in something actually changing, but by changing the color you are technically taking a step back and I feel OTM shouldn’t stray from your perm content design. You could do what you did with the Aeon fashion is most likely the best middleground you will get.

A faint idea popped in my head, certain bosses can be a no-trade item. But bosses like the spider etc. stay trade able. Just really the bosses that make people cry the most, like the darkflame boss. Its really strict, its just an idea, im not sure how I feel about it, but just going to see if it catches on or not. Just throwing it out there.

Not sure Muldar or myself could really speak to the messaging of the team in 2011. We can be more careful with the wording in the future and/or bringing items back.

I've seen this is quite the debate amongst the community. I understand why those that worked hard to originally obtain these items would be upset, but I also understand why the bosses would be brought back. So let's see if we can find a middle ground, in case something like this were to come up again the future.

How would you feel if when a "legacy" item were brought back, they were a different color or your's had the original description indicating its origin? This could let other players know that its rarity, but still give new players a chance at cool items. Would that be happy middle ground?
I like the idea of different colors for legacy items. Different colors keeps the old stuff unique and may make some prefer the new stuff.

Not that I'm aware of. It's still a topic for discussion (whether it should be redone for existing legacy items or done in the future.)
