Noobs, where do they go wrong?

#1
IMO a noobs biggest problem with over coming in the beginning is Gold.
Every new player I see just begs for items or sees diamond or quarts armor and thinks that they'll just save up for that really expensive armor instead of taking the proper steps to level up, increase abilities, buy ancient armor, ect...
I honestly can't count how many players I see that are on daily for 4+ hours but have yet gone up a single level in months.
Instead they just sit and follow you around and ask for things.

What do you think is a noobs biggest problem when starting out?

Is there anything we can do in terms of the design to help the low levels and stop this kind of thing? Or is it just the way some people play these kind of games?
It's just the way some people play there kinds of games. You can help them out a little by increasing the amount of gold is dropped, even if its just 3 more gold per kill. At low levels, It can really help without making gold too easy to gather. Just a suggestion...

Its just how most people who are inexperienced or who just think they are so cool that they can get anything they want. I think there MIGHT be a way to stop it, i hope there is because i travel to Farcrag or lirs and BAM my chat is spammed with wispers and trades. I doubt there is a way though. OTM if you can find a way to stop this i will be as grateful as a unicorn on mars which was leaded to a rainbow by an alien and the unicorn flew over the rain and was hit off the skittles company by skittles cannon and was caught by the special forces Leprechauns who killed everyone in the skittles company and then the unicorn got to stonevale to find that it was corrupted and then Celtic heroes uncorrupted it. Then the unicorn ate donuts.
That would be how grateful i would be

Well to be honest I have rarly played games like this but I in fact love it :) I know most can't buy plat items to sell for gold but I would think the best way around this is...

(I have talked with you before admin about new areas in shalemont like the blocked cave by statue and the castle)

But I think a solid quest line of things you could be doing from levels 1-60ish.
This way with more lower level quest available there will be more things for lower levels to occupy their time.
Just think like adding 1-2 more quest in crook and dusk that gives decent exp to lower levels.
I think a lot of newer people don't realize that you have to grind to be good at this game.
They think the only way to level is through a quest.
So many just follow quest, complete them all, then get to stone and just shout and beg to be grouped for 6 stars.
The quest as of now literally jump from the hardest being kill glimmerwings to killing 6 star whisp.
Many low levels haven't found a clan that can do these bosses yet.
The 5 star defectors is a great idea for a quest but somewhere in there there should be a quest involving killing a set of 10, 4 star bosses.

Other ideas: I know it's been said but a level 50 or 55 requirement in stonevale would help work out some of this confusion, it'd be simple have a guard standing outside of shale that say "I'm sorry young scout but it's far to dangerous for a up and comer such as yourself. Come back and I'll give you a look over to see if you're ready."

Put level limits on all armor. This in turn will make all people want to work for that higher level.
Or just start it off as ancient gloves can be bought at level 15, then boots at 17 hat at 19 legs at 21 chest at 23 weapon at 25 just for the first set of armor that should be bought by a new player so they can see the order of importance in gear.

IDK but I am only trying to help!

I think some level limits would be good - but the level should be somewhat low - like level 40 for stonevale, level 15 for shalemont.

i like that many of the most important skills are learned through the main quest line, instead of purchased - this helps too.

I do think that blue and red book quests should be level limited if you can only complete them in sv or ow. Why get a quest for these skills in farcrag at level 6 if you can really do nothing about them until you are level 50-75 (or higher for Blue book). obviously you can buy pages, but the game should be designed for people who don't get hand me downs or have high level alts.

Personally, i think the biggest issue with noobs is more etiquette. I don't think many understand about kill stealing or how experience is gained or how grouping can share the gains. It is annoying when a noob starts hacking at my kill because he is 'helping' me (even worse when i am working on my hand-to-hand on training dummy and some high level 'shows off' by blasting it with one hit - not impressive, just annoying). Or understanding that grouping for quest kills helps everyone in the group - so it doesnt have to be a competition.

Of course, how you teach this to noobs is a different matter. I explain when i can - but that gets old pretty quickly.

thanks

I agree with the area guard idea and definetly the quest ideas!
New quests in old areas sounds like fun for everyone. It would give players a boost and a taste of success in CH. Motivation, you know?

Idea about the 10, 4 star MOBs suggestion.

Shalemont has defectors
Stonevale has whisp quest for weapon
Other world has fairy quest.

Lirs needs the 10, 4 star sub bosses.
Maybe have a quest line where after they finish the 10 a new quest opens for the leader of them all, a 5 star not to tough boss, something a group of 4-5 level 25-30's could take on.

Make noob quests slightly more rewarding so that they see the benefit of putting in the work to complete the early start quests adding gold to drops will just encourage high level gold farming where as if doing the whole of the quest to get noob armour were to give a gold reward enough to buy say there first piece of redclaw type armour they would prob be set on there ways to collecting the whole set or maybe even give them a quest to kill 100 skeles in dc and give them a reward of there first piece of redclaw
Grinding killing mobs is what you have to do in this game but there r no quests that really encourage this early on in game and a few farming quests to get noobs into the types of habits you want them to take up throughout the game

I agree on quest like killing 100 or more enemies. If I have to get 1080 green presents they can kill 100+ for a quest.
