Not really, i finished the quest when i was between levels 50 and 60 cant remember what level i was

the xp is already nil so that is not an issue. i would keep the gold, i do not think many high levels would camp a boss just for the gold (and that is the primary issue here). But if they are there and choose to kill him, they should still get some gold. That being said, you could try it with gold, and if still a problem, try without.
