With the Bolas skill I don't think I would use it unless it stops the Enemy all together for a little while. But my build is more on the tank side though so I'm not trying to avoid damage. I just try to outlast by firing and light healing. It works well unless I run out of energy. :o My standard operating procedure is to use steady aim and then rapid shot to pelt the enemy. Rapid shot is one of the best skills for damage but you cant always get it off during a fight. I always use it at the beginning of the fight though because I know it will work. I don't use it after that much because is starts charging gets interrupted and wastes time which can get me killed

Maybe have the rapid shot less interrupt-able or quicker charging would be good.

I would try the Bolas at 10 to see how this skill would perform, but I don't want to switch. I did have 2 skill switching books but I gave them away :(

I have bolas at 10 and yes they do slow the enemy considerably. My issue with them is that the range on them is too small. Typically I lead with bola then straight to rapid (sometimes the reverse works better), by the time rapid has expired the enemy is in striking distance so I back off and repeat. I usually save sharp shot for when the enemy hp is low and use it to finish them off. I think if bolas range were increased it would be a huge help. Lengthening the duration of rapid shot would also be nice since it expires halfway through the cool-down and I would also like to see sharp shot deal more damage.

My biggest problem with bolas is that you spend the majority of the time that the enemy is bola'd casting your other skills. That makes using bola pretty ineffective to begin with.

those are great suggestions for improving the ranger. Ranger is clearly the weakest class in the game, and yes, I've played almost all of them. Admins, please heed suggestions for rangers:

1) better bows/more damage
2) better range for bolas
3) better damage for sharp shot
4) longer duration of rapid shot
5) arrows with unlimited # or more of them for the gold cost

You don't have to do all of those things, but most of them would put rangers closer to the other classes.

I must admit that a ranger can smoke a warrior over time because of one skill........Light heal. as long as you have mana you can fight higher level bosses and multiple mobs. warrior would eventually succumb because they cant heal. I wish there was a way to measure this because the protective stance is huge for warriors. I think rangers can also deal a lot of dps because of the combos of steady aim, sharp shot, barbed shot and rapid over and over. They don't have dramatic damage but over time it adds up. They cast quicker than a warriors big hits and I usually will end up aggroing most boss fights so I seem to be doing enough damage.

The Bolas range should be equal to the duration of it. That way it runs out as they finally reach you. Which is very effective.

Rangers theoretically can last forever. I've found that one can bolas, barbed shot, and meditate and still gain energy. Allowing you to run back and forth around an enemy casting those skills over and over. Lasting forever. Theoretically.

Anyway, just the extra damage from quivers (hopefully with peircings of 10+) will improve us drastically.

Completely off topic, but what does anyone think of implementing Crossbows?
