No trade is also a doable option, but economy and exchange of goods is healthy and fun in an mmo. No trade items just destroy the economy.

The solution is just make it so normal level players have a chance to get a boss. I think the first to hit lock would accomplish this. Because the normal level group know that if we have enough people to take some damage we can hit, lock it, and let other members arrive. Under the current system we are in constant fear even after starting the fight that a high level will come in and out dps us mid fight, which does happen.

Under the new proposed system we would know what we needed to do to have a chance, and we could work on doing that. Right now we could get ksed at any point.
I (and my clan) would love this. For example of the ks thing, I was at stonefang wretch waiting for my group to arrive. They were lvl 55, 56, and 61 at the time (I was 56). So we start and get down to abt 70% hp. Then a druid (naaitsab) comes a long and calls HIS group. A lvl 102 and 43 (naait is 67) and start ksing us. Please implent the target lock system.

LOL. In all honesty, if you decide to implement a 'first hit locks the boss' system you will receive a LOT of complaints when a lower level group is standing around a boss doing nothing and a ranger, druid, or mage of a high level runs in only to hit once and use their stall tactics to give other clan members time to show up. A ranger can simply bolas and heal, move, heal, move, etc. A druid can root and heal, heal, heal. A mage can put up an energy barrier and keep working nothing but energy regen. Then the clan that was caught flat-footed 'preparing' is essentially screwed again. This will be even more so the case when members of the lower level group don't think and simply attack as well. If they pull aggro, then they are wasting their pots and time only to be very unhappy when they don't get the reward.

I think if OTM decides to patch this in it will cause even more headaches then the current system does. Bosses have always been available to every level player and many players have taken them when they don't need them. creating this new system will not stop (and probably barely slow) this problem from continuing to happen. To some degree this idea may even make the problem worse. A 'dungeon-like' idea may help the situation but even that will have draw backs including what to do when players die and try to rez. there are numerous other ideas, some discussed already on this thread, that would go a much longer way to fixing the problem then first hit locking ever could.

What you are saying would not necessarily be the case because in non-otw bosses the high levels are almost never the ones who get to the bosses first. It is usually people at the level of the mob or lower who spot it and then they call in the mid or high levels.

Normal level groups usually assemble mostly before the high level arrives so they could lock the boss as soon as they could get a reasonable amount of players and not worry about the high level swooping in for the ks.

And even in the current system if the high level swoops in and hits first there is no chance for the lower group anymore anyway.

Does this sound right?

Firstly, target lock? What will happen to the multiple groups fighting bosses like aggra? Only one group is suppose to be fighting it?
Secondly, make drags no trade? Seriously? Lower levels will never understand how high levels train themselves in order to kill falgren and other big bosses. If drags was no trade, how would low levels get to kill falgren and get the drags? You still need higher levels.

Ya if the target is locked it would need to be sorted out how multiple groups can hit it. Would it be possible to have a "link group" option where you can only have group names on your screen of people in your 8 person group but multiple groups could link together, be able to all hit the boss, and split the loot?

Can you elaborate on how it will ruin the game? I have thought it through a lot and I don't see many if any negatives, aside from how multiple groups will fight a mob that 1 group can't feasibly kill.

no i dont ask, for stop trading, trading for weapons and armors its ok, maybe the targeting solotion be a good one, and you would have lots of complaints for this 100level users, and only from them.

A cool thing, its that u guys would code a new item, one that youl find at level 40+ maybe on a mission, that a low level group, can break a monopoly group, a disband selfish group item hahahahaha

nobody wants to limit anybody, but if only a quarter of the people is having fun, the other 3/4 must obey?

we are the 99% hahahahahah

I just thought of one more potential negative for target locking.

Right now I was about to start a buisness of power leveling people.

What I do is cast high level firecloak on a low level and then run around with them and finish off every mob that they get below half health.

This wouldn't work with a target locking system, but hey, I'm willing to give that up for the extra peace of mind and conflict prevention of the targret locking system.
