Let's look at a real life scenario:


Dude A has a compound bow and arrow.
Dude B has a 30-06 rifle.
Dude C has a Ford F-350 Dually.


A deer is 200 yards away from these 3 guys all triangulated.

Dude A shoots and sticks the deer it starts to run. Dude B shoots and hits it's leg...

Dude C DEMOLISHES the deer traveling at a smooth 60mph.


Who gets the kill?


Implement something like this and make the game how it should be.

This lock system will allow me to take whole groups with a low alt and believe me I won't buy platinum to fund the little guy. :lol:

Yeah, I'll take a tank to falg, tap it first, pot up so I don't die while everyone does the work for me and guess who gets the drop? Me! Haha yay!

I made suggestion of a combined aggro/dps system with no lock at all, instead of the current dps system. This does not solve the monopoly problem, but really neither does the lock system.

Any comments on this alternative suggestion? It is posted above in this thread in detail.

Ya many of us have proposed alternate solutions to ks prevention before but I don't think we ever got any feedback. What this means is mabye the only idea that OTM could implement was the one that admin proposed.

Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?

If dude B and C get to it and see Dude A getting his arrow out ready to shoot the dear before they got there they should let dude A take a shot at it before they go after it.

And guess what? They won't do the work because they can see that you would get the kill, unless they really like you lol.

They will watch you waste your pots and die and then, they will take the kill...

If they are triangulated 200 yards apart - and all three start at the exact nanosecond - who gets the kill. It's ok, you can admit it.

Regarding the scenario of people standing by - yup, sounds like the auto lock takes the competition completely out of game. I know I LOVE playing chess against someone that just sits there and doesn't do anything. Why not make CH a stand alone game? Who needs other players to mess up our fun?!

In all the RPGs I have played, this is the first where ppl consider KSing to be an integral part of the game.

Interestingly, of the names in this post that I recognise from my world (Herne), all are from TheNuMob, and most are complaining that if we take away any chance to KS others, they will enjoy the game less. Most members of this clan actively participate in KSing, in a wide range of how far they will go, from a FFA (two equal groups starting a fight at the same time), to having a member standing by to wait until a group is engaged, and using idols, banes and other consumables. Then, using third party chat programs to alert clan members not currently in game, and suddenly, a team of 8 130+ dps from TNM are competing for the kill.

These people (and i would like to qualify this - not ALL members, but many) clearly state, in game and on the forums that they knowingly do this, to control the drops (which none need on their main characters, and most don't need on alt chars either), the server economy, and for sport. While this is fun for many of their members, I have yet to find a single person outside their clan, who sees it in the same light.

Of course a new system could be abused, and might have many haters... And maybe a bunch of plat buyers would quit playing. But there are more plat buyers who think the current system sucks, and are happy to see any efforts to teach ppl manners (because apparently, if it isn't built into the game, you don't have to follow the laws of common decency) as a plus. And just maybe, a bunch of plat buyers who left, because they felt the current tactics are abusive and bully-like, would come back to the game.

Right on Traj.

In herne, this will have no effect on competition, reason being one clan has all but eliminated it from our server. Their goal was to try to make just 1 elite clan, then ks everyone to control drops and such for sport. I have no problem, with but it does get annoying.

But i dont like the idea of the first person who attacks gets locked on. I think it should be the first group to do 10% damage to the mob/boss. This way a bunch of 135+ dont show up when the bosses health is a quarter gone and ks.
