Slow and Steady wins the race

#1
I am a slow leveler. That is the only way to put it. I level slow, even by the standards of people who don't use elixirs. I'm at level 69 right now, and I expect to reach 70 sometime next week. I'm constantly getting distracted, going off and doing something else, and my in-game money burns holes in my pockets. What I see however, is that there are people 50 levels higher than me that truly are noobs. The game's ability to let you get to the top if you buy your way there has caused many people to go rocketing past me in level, peak at about 120, and are then never heard from again. This all happens in about the course of a week. Meanwhile, mathematically I gain about 2/5 of a level per week (been playing since January, 28 weeks.) What is it that causes this desire to "win" without actually playing the game? Why do they all quit at about the same level? Is it because they all realize that it's an MMORPG and that you can't "win"? I'm not proposing that you remove the ability for people to do that, because they're out of our hair in a month at most, and they're a huge economy stimulus on the way up, but you need to give people a warning. Victory is sweeter when you've worked for it.

So just go slow. Smell the roses, so to speak. You don't need to level up right this instant, the level will still be there tomorrow. Make some friends. Have some fun. Plan an underwear party in the Tavern. Just avoid the manic rush to get to the top, and remember that it's a game.

Oh yeah, and it's funny whenever one of these super-levelers calls me a noob after reaching 120 in a week
Griesbachan, Level 76+ Druid
Inhabitant of the realm of Lugh
Proud Recruit of Clan Ancients

Once I get to level 80, get full Green Shadow Armor, and get myself an icon, I'd be interested in having an artisic rendering of my character for my sig. :D

i can only level once in two weeks like left4dead said lol. but i have some friends who are rich and now,
they quit because they did it too fast and theyve got bored and didnt even give me their stuff
and then i was scammed, exact reason why they quit but i can take pressure and then i made it here now im more powerful than him.
well until i get a energy regen. i could buy one but i want a focus cause it looks cool and a golden one.
Not playing celtic heroes anymore
Even though I quit, nobody is getting anything.

You share the same philosophy as me. I've been playing since update one and I'm only level 90. I can tell you that I never remember saying I was bore on Celtic Heroes! I level maybe once a month now (or less if I put effort into it). Yes, I buy idols for boss fights but I never enjoy using elixirs, potions or scrolls. The only things I buy are permanent ones (e.g. Skill slots) :)

Finally a moderate, sensible voice/approach!

I have been playing this game since late June (last year), and while I did get caught up in the 'rat race' later that first summer (I was the first on Epona to reach 60, a feat back in those days with no rejuv items and only netting 1 exp per mob, if any...) I have been the proverbial tortoise since then, in contrast to many 'hares'.

Either play style is fine if that is what you are into, but if you truly want to get THE MOST enjoyment out of this game, you should take your time. If you plateau with one of your chars, start a new char, or start 4 (as I did). Explore, chat, start a clan, make friends - because in the end it is the people you know who make you want to stick around here, OTM just provides a landscape for us to interact with.

Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day...

Instant Gratification.

Bragging Rights.

Ability to call You a noob!

Seriously tho, they think you're as weird as you think they are.

Different folks, different strokes. Personally, in hmmm 20+ years of playing video games (mostly RPGs), including some 12 years of MMOs, I've only hit the level cap on a couple of games (and in one of them, I still think the reason I was able to do so was because the developers did not think far enough ahead and made the chars toooo powerful; they "litereally" gimped/nerfed/weakened everyone after the level cap raising). I have yet to encounter an MMO that dictated that there's only one play style - well, at least one that lasted more than a day after it opened I guess.
