My concern about the drop only going to open quest player is this: they need to remain tradable.
In our clan, we pool all major drops to a clan bank and distribute according to several factors, but primarily by how it will best help the clan as a whole. We choose to gear a higher/stronger/loyal/hardworking player who then gives back to clan by helping to earn more drops. Generals distribute with feedback from guards.
we have a firm belief that one of the main purposes of a clan is to help each other. and, in that spirit, we work cooperatively to help individuals by helping the clan as a whole advance.
Taking drags, (for simplicity's sake) the clan as a whole advances faster if we get one strong player full warden rather than having four players with one drag each waiting months to complete. doesn't do us much good to have 10 drags sitting around on players who hardly log when strong daily players go lacking.
and I have to admit, I get really frustrated when some devoted, hard-working loyal player who has camped a boss for a week loses the drop to a low level player who logs twice a week. it isn't really an issue when I am grouped with clan, but can be if grouped outside of clan.
It would be okay if they were still tradable, because then we could still bank and distribute.
