Re: Discussion of alternate solutions to target lock

Hm... I mentioned this somewhere else, just putting this here for the sake of having all ideas in one place. Also, the drops only going to the person with an open quest isn't my idea but I forgot who's it was, sorry!!

I didnt see this suggestion on the front page, hence my post.

How, about

- Only people with an open quest can get frags
- People can only get frags they actually need
- Frags are non-trade
I have alot of clannies that need disks I want to be able to give them to the clan bank so they can be given to the clannies instead of having to get 3 of the clannies that need disks online and waste spots for Druids and more dps

My idea that i posted in another topic:
I personally hate ksing, AND ffa.

Reason being - when in an FFA, tanks feel the need to not taunt. Why? I do not know. So any FFA results in us tanking and healing (doing the hard work) then it comes down to the dps vs dps, and if we lose.. We have tanked for another clan to get the kill, which sucks.

This said, I don't think target lock is the thing to solve this. It will take a lot of contribution to get a good system that works to prevent ksing. The main problem with the lock idea, is rangers bolasing a boss, and holding it up. Rangers will be incredibly important and kinda overpowered.

My idea for an FFA or Boss fight.. I'm sure some disagree, and I haven't thought it out it's just an idea. But what if.. You had 'total group aggro held timer' that gives a boss kill?

Example: Group A has been on Starspell for 10Minutes, and have held aggro for 10minutes. Group B comes along and takes aggro and finishes the boss in 5 minutes, doing over half damage. Group A is awarded the kill because they held the boss up and tanked for the longest. This gets Druids involved because they keep the tank healed, therefore holding aggro.

This also introduces a full-on stay alive approach for tanks and clans, rather than an 'oh well I died I'll just use an idol' approach. As if it is an FFA and 1 tank dies, he will lose lots of aggro and find it hard to regain. If their is another tank at the fight that is in another group, he could then keep aggro, and get the kill because him and his group held the boss for the longest time.

This is not very well thought out, but add your tweaks and things to make it better, if you like the idea at all.
So for a final paragraph if people agree.

The group that holds aggro of the boss for the longest amount of time is awarded the kill. IMO, the group that holds the aggro for the longest amount of time, has put in the most effort and is most deservent of the kill, and drops. Whether it be from Druid heals or pots.

True, you cant help your clan by collecting frags for member. But that also means that everyone will have to actually work for their armor (the way it should be) instead of just getting/buying it.

You can still help them by helping them kill the mob. They just have to be in the group to get the drop.

To make something NO TRADE is counter productive. It will only make those that intend good deeds be unable to perform them whilst those that intend harm will continue to do so.

If the drop system takes into account open quests of the person/group that gets the kill, then the correct items will drop to the correct members. NO TRADE will be UNNECESSARY. The person getting the drop will either keep it or give it to someone else that they believe needs it more. Their CHOICE.

Another thread discusses some of this as well ...

My solution: Examine a 5 or 6* boss and press lock. Now you are completely locked on and a symbol above your head means "locked". You can only be locked for 5 minutes and must wait an hour to lock again if its the same boss. Your lock stays if you engaged target or a group member has, until your group dies or boss resets. In the lock time(even if you dont attack), if the target dies you get the kill. This shouldnt happen bcuz of the symbol above your head. You must not be more than 20 levels lower than targeted boss to lock

Its all a bit confusing, but yeah :)

I think target lock should only happen to the group that gets it to 1/2 health first. A druids heal should also play a part in this role, per say there a group of 5 rouges/rangers and a group of 3 tanks 2 druids going at Fal, the rouges are hitting 500 - 1k and the tanks are hitting 200 - 600, the druids heal is up to....lets say 600 - 1k, cut what there heal does to the tanks in half (still fully heals them) and add it to the 'who gets kill' ratio!
