How come items that provide pierce dmg seem to give more extra dmg than advertised?

For instance, Corbin's Bracers say they do 3 pierce dmg, but my Damage stat actually increases by 11 when I equip them.

Do you happen to know how the pierce strength stacking/bonus is calculated exactly?
When comparing the affects of different pierce items I have, the formula that would explain the resulting affects is not clear.

Where else do you get boots or items with pierce damage, or gloves but with more damage than those given in the early quests????

connacht pathfinder armour has pierce on it,


it is a very rare boss spawn in shalemont that drops it

As far as I'm aware, Corbin's bracers that have +3 pierce damage are the gloves that have the most pierce damage in the game. They were awesome for me, until I got my heroic gloves of haste (Really expensive gloves)
