I'm curious how this affects us as rangers. I recently got one of those +250 attack rings from dragons and when I have it equipped I don't really see any difference in my attack against enemys. No major upgrade in my damage i cause them. it seems like damage is what needs to go up to see a noticeable difference bt even then it's small.
Mainly asking about attack. I'm trying to figure out which ring to use. Grand ring of sharp shot or this +250 attack ring and how the attack stat works
Re: Attack stat?
#2I believe that while strength affects damage, attack affects your chance to land auto attacks; higher attack = less chance of mobs evading

Re: Attack stat?
#5Attack increases ur chances of hitting. Str is damage and bow ablity also adds to damage

Re: Attack stat?
#7With dps we can think about it this way.
Suppose you have 100 calculated dps. Usually this is all people look at. What is my dps? And they want big number.
Attack effects hit rate. Let's say you have a 70% chance to hit. Your actual dps over time is then only 70% of your total dps... So in our example 70 dps. This is why attack, and so dex is important.
I don't yet understand the actual CH equations for hit rates and such, but the principle applies.

Re: Attack stat?
#8Thanks for the reply. Defently makes sense however i feel it's one of those things that are impossible to figure out. There are battles where Incan hit everytime or miss everytime. Don't really see a difference with the rings on. I ended up trading one for greater boots tha give 150 hp and 150 defense. I notice me avoiding hits alot more as well as the hit I take is close to 100 hp less. Really weird not using boots of speed anymore. Game seems slower lol.
But back to my question. Based on that response I think My other rings are better tO have equipped than the 250 attack ring. I have royal ring of bows, royal ring of steady aim, grand ring of bolas, and grand ring of sharp shot. All the key essential rings I believe for a ranger. The new dragon stuff is so tempting to wear but not sure it's any better than frost armour.

Re: Attack stat?
#9Waaaait! So less variability in hits? If this is true that's pretty groundbreaking (at least to me)Attack affects how likely you are to hit for max amount.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?
